(5) Adjust the lift mechanism if it is necessary (Ref 52-32-00/501).
NOTE:____It is necessary if there is a load on the links. It is also necessary if the clearance at the downstops is not correct.
S 726-022
(6)
Do a check of the adjustment of the gearbox and brake assembly.
(a)
Put the torgue wrench and the adapter on the gearbox and brake assembly (Detail C).
(b)
Turn the brake housing clockwise.
(c)
Make sure the torque is 65-75 pound-inches.
S 826-023
(7)
Adjust the gearbox and brake assembly if the torque is not correct (Ref 52-32-04/401).
S 726-024
(8)
Do a check of the latches closed switch.
NOTE: Do the check after the actuator operates electrically.
____
The door is closed for this check.
S 826-055
(9)
Use a torque wrench with a dial indicator to manually drive the latch actuator in a CLOSED (clockwise) direction.
S 826-056
(10)
Carefully count the number of turns that remain until the external stops are contacted.
NOTE: The external stops must contact in 3 | 1 turns.
____
S 826-057
(11)
If the external stops are not contacted in 3 | 1 turns, do these steps:
(a)
Subtract the actual number of turns that remain from the 3 turns.
(b)
Subtract the difference from 8 | 1/4 turns.
(c)
Do the initial latches closed switch adjustment and use this new number of turns value.
(12)
If the switch was adjusted, install the lockwire and locknuts.

(13) Do a check of the hook closed switch.
NOTE: Do the check after the actuator operates electrically.
____
The door is closed for this check.
S 816-072
(14)
Use a torque wrench with a dial indicator to manually drive the hook actuator in a CLOSED (clockwise) direction.
(a)
Make a mark on the door to show the position of the torque wrench handle.
NOTE: This position is where the actuator stops after
____
it operates electrically.
(b) Make sure you can turn the torque wrench from 4 to 6 turns before the actuator hits the internal stops.
NOTE: The actuator has hit the stops when the torque increases
____ 15 to 20 pound-inches during one-half turn of the wrench.
S 826-026
(15)
If the internal stop is not contacted in 4 to 6 turns, adjust the switch as follows:
(a)
Subtract the actual number of turns from 5 and add the value to
9.
(b)
Set the hook closed switch to operate at this point.
(c)
If the switch was adjusted, install the lockwire and locknuts.
S 226-008
(16)
Do a check of the maximum torque necessary to move the latch actuator.
(a)
Put a torque wrench into the manual drive socket of the latch actuator.
(b)
Turn the torque wrench twenty turns in the OPEN direction.
(c)
Turn the torque wrench twenty turns in the CLOSE direction.
(d)
Make a note of the torque that is necessary to turn the actuator.
(e)
Make sure the torque is not more than 25 pound-inches.
S 826-009
(17)
If the torque is more than 25 pound-inches, adjust the latch fittings on the cargo door sill (Ref 52-32-00/501).
