(f) If the clearance is not between 4.27 to 4.31 inch, adjust the guide roller ramp as follows: 1) Remove the aft guide roller ramp and shims from the latch
fitting. 2) Clean the parts with solvent, Series 92 (AMM 20-30-92).
NOTE: Use a plastic tool, if it is necessary, to remove

all of the used sealant.
3) Add or remove shims to get a clearance of 4.30 to 4.31 inch between the guide roller ramp faces. 4) Apply sealant and install the parts for the forward guide roller ramp. 5) Make sure the clearance between the guide roller ramp faces is from 4.27 to 4.31 inches after you apply the sealant.

(5) Adjust all the lower latch fittings as follows (Fig. 408):
CAUTION:_______IN CASE THE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN, STOP IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT OPERATE THE DOOR CONTROL SWITCH. HOLDING THE DOOR CONTROL SWITCH MAY DAMAGE THE ACTUATOR. WAIT AT LEAST 1 MINUTE BEFORE SECOND ATTEMPT. IF THE DOOR STILL DOES NOT OPEN, WAIT AT LEAST 10 MINUTES BEFORE THIRD ATTEMPT.
(a)
Open the door until you can get access.
(b)
Install the dummy latch pin in each of the latch fitting.
(c)
Clean the bore of the latch fitting with solvent, Series 92 (AMM 20-30-92), if it is necessary, to remove the used sealant.
(d)
Cut strips of modeling clay approximately 0.22-inch thick, 0.44-inch wide, and 2.5-inches long. Wind these clay strips around each dummy latch pin (View B-B).
(e)
Apply a thin layer of the talcum powder to the inner surface of each latch cam.
(f)
Electrically close and latch the door.
(g)
Measure the clearance between the latch cam and bearing plate.
(h)
Electrically open the door until you can get access.
(i)
Measure the clay thickness at the horizontal and vertical locations on each dummy latch pin.
NOTE:____The nominal clay thickness is 0.12-inch. The difference and position is the amount and direction of the adjustment of the latch fitting.

(j) Use the clay measurement to position each latch fitting.
NOTE:____ Keep the clearance set for the two guide roller latch
fittings on which the guide roller ramps are installed.
(k) Do the clay measurement steps again until you get a 0.02-inch
maximum flushness between the door and body latch fitting
centerlines.
NOTE:____ Because the vertical adjustment of the latch fitting is
serrated at a 0.036-inch pitch, the closest agreement is
0.018 inch. It is preferable that latch pins are set
0.018 inch high rather than 0.018 inch low.
(l) Make sure the serrations are correctly engaged.
(m) Tighten the adjustment fasteners of the latch fittings as shown
(Fig. 408).
CAUTION: WHEN YOU INSTALL THE LATCH PINS, THE FORWARD GUIDE ROLLER
_______ LATCH FITTING PIN IS LONGER (3.44-INCH LENGTH), WHILE ALL OTHER FITTINGS USE A SHORTER PIN (3.18-INCH LENGTH). IF YOU USE THE INCORRECT PIN, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE LATCH MECHANISM.
(n) Remove the dummy latch pins and install each airplane latch pin that you removed before as follows:
