Examine the torque necessary to turn each lower latch through its full range of motion with the pushrods disconnected (Fig. 401).

Make sure the torque is not more than 55 pound-inches.

If the torque is more than 55 pound-inches, clean and lubricate the lower latches (Ref 12-21-04/301).
NOTE: Refer to the OHM 52-36-75 for the repair procedure

Do these steps to make sure the stop bolts are not against the stop lever (15) (View B-B):
(a)
Loosen the jamnuts.
(b)
Turn the stop bolts against the jamnuts.

Install the SCD-3 rig pin through one cam on each of the five latch shafts to set the latch cams in the rigged closed position (View B).

Set the latch actuator (1) in the rigged closed position as follows (Fig. 402):
CAUTION: DO NOT USE MORE THAN 70 POUND-INCHES OF TORQUE WHEN YOU
_______ TURN THE ACTUATOR IN THE CLOCKWISE DIRECTION. IF YOU USE MORE THAN 70 POUND-INCHES OF TORQUE, YOU CAN CAUSE INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR.
(a) Use a torque wrench with a dial indicator to manually turn the actuator in the closed direction (clockwise).
