Open the internal master latch lock handle.

 (d)
Use the spring-type scale to apply a force to the internal master latch lock handle as shown in View F, Figure 505.

 (e)
Make sure that the force necessary to lock the internal handle is from 40 to 70 pounds.

 (f)
Make sure the clearance at the downstops of the two rotary actuators is as shown in View A-A, Figure 512.

 (g)
Make sure that you can install the SCD-7 rigging pin in each actuator link as follows:

NOTE: This is shown in View A-A, Figure 512.
____
 1) If the downstop clearance is not in the correct range, adjust the lift mechanism (Ref Adjustment section). 2) If you can not install the actuator link rigging pin, adjust the lift mechanism (Ref Adjustment section).
 (h)
Make sure the quill shaft is installed between the rotary actuators at the forward end of the door as follows: 1) Use your hand to turn the input shaft at the forward rotary

actuator to the forward end of the door (View A-A, Fig. 518). 2) Make sure the rotary actuator input shaft does not turn more than 10 degrees.

 (i)
Make sure that the quill shaft is installed between the rotary actuators at the aft end of the door as follows: 1) Use your hand to rotate the input shaft at the aft rotary

actuator at the aft end of the door (View A-A, Fig. 518). 2) Make sure that the rotary actuator input shaft does not rotate more than 10 degrees.

747-400 MAINTENANCE MANUAL
Do a check of the torque necessary to move the lift mechanism
 brakes as follows:
 1)  Install the torque wrench and adapter on the forward gearbox and brake assembly (Detail E, Fig. 518).
 2)  Turn the brake housing in the ratchet direction.
 3)  Make sure the torque necessary to move the brake is 65-75 pound-inches.
 4)  If the torque is not in this range, adjust the gearbox and brake assembly (Ref Adjustment section).
 5)  Do the steps above at the aft gearbox and brake assembly.
Remove the covers from the manual drive ports of the latch and
 hook actuators.
Remove the plug at the lift power unit manual drive gearbox.
Do a check of the torque necessary to move the latches to the
 open position as follows:
CAUTION: USE TORQUE WRENCH WITH DIAL INDICATOR (FIG. 502) TO
_______ FIND WHEN THE ACTUATOR INTERNAL STOPS ARE TOUCHED. DO NOT USE MORE THAN 70 POUND-INCHES OF MANUAL TORQUE. IF YOU USE MORE THAN 70 POUND-INCHES, YOU CAN CAUSE INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR.
 1)  Put a torque wrench into the latch actuator manual drive socket.
 2)  Turn the latch actuator approximately 112 turns to the full open position.
 3)  Make sure that the torque necessary to open the latches is 25 pound-inches maximum.
Do a check of the torque necessary to move the hooks to the
 open position as follows:
CAUTION: USE TORQUE WRENCH WITH DIAL INDICATOR (FIG. 502) TO
_______ FIND WHEN THE ACTUATOR INTERNAL STOPS ARE TOUCHED. DO NOT USE MORE THAN 70 POUND-INCHES OF MANUAL TORQUE. IF YOU USE MORE THAN 70 POUND-INCHES, YOU CAN CAUSE INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR.
 1)  Put torque wrenches into the hook actuator manual drive sockets.
 2)  Turn the two actuators counterclockwise at the same time.
 3)  Continue to turn the actuators until they hit the restraint arms.
 4)  Turn the actuators from 3 to 5 turns clockwise.
 5)  Push in the hook restraint manual release buttons.
 6)  Turn the actuators ten turns counterclockwise.
 7)  Release the manual release button for the hook restraint.
 8) Turn the two hook actuators counterclockwise at the same time to the full open position. a) Use a torque wrench with a dial indicator to manually turn the actuator clockwise at 25 |5 pound-inches.
