(2) Loosen nut and carefully remove the attachment bolts to avoid damage to the protective coating.
NOTE: On the latch fittings 10L & 10R that attach to the body
____ structure, make sure to keep the correct shim thickness that you removed for installation of the new latch fitting. The access to the aft attachment bolt-heads on the latch fitting 9 is through the floor panel that is forward of rudder pedal in the flight deck.

If you install the used latch fitting, do a check for the wear limits (Ref 52-31-06/601).

Make sure these circuit breakers are open and the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags attached:
(a)
On the Auxilary External 2 Power Center-Right panel P715: 1) NOSE CARGO DOOR
(b)
On the Power Distribution Center-Right panel P415: 1) 415F16, NOSE CARGO DOOR CONTROL
(c)
On the Nose Cargo Door Power panel H122: 1) DOOR LIFT 2) PULL UP CAM 3) LATCHES 1-4R 4) LATCHES 1-4L 5) LATCHES 5-8R 6) LATCHES 5-8L

E. Actuator-Pin Portal Latch Fitting Installation (Fittings 1-8 L&R)

(1)
For the latch fittings 7L and 7R,
Install the latch actuator on the latch fitting.

(2)
Attach the serrated plate and the indication switch bracket to the latch fitting with bolts, washer and nuts.

Install the latch fitting and the serrated plate on body structure.
(a)
Make sure the latch fitting and serrated plate are in the correct position.

(4)
Install the attachment bolts and nuts on the latch fitting.
(a)
Apply sealant to bolt threads, shank, and underside of head with sealant.
(b)
Install the attachment bolts and nuts.
(c)
Make sure the countersunk side of the washer is against the bolt head.
(d)
Tighten nuts.
(e)
Apply fillet seal of sealant on the bolt heads and nuts.

For all except latch fitting 7L and 7R,
Install the latch actuator (AMM 52-31-05/401).

Install the latch indication switch (Ref 52-71-01/401).

Do an alignment check for the body latch fitting and the door latch fitting:
