TEST NO. 7 - VIBRATION SURVEY
_____________________________
 CAUTION:_______ SUPPLY THE PNEUMATIC POWER, DURING THE IDLE SPEED CHECK.
 THIS WILL PERMIT YOU TO MOTOR THE ENGINE, IF IT IS
 NECESSARY.
 KEEP THE PRESSURE ON THE "A" AND "B" HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS.
 THIS WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE FULL CONTROL OF THE NOSE

 GEAR STEERING AND THE MAIN WHEEL BRAKES.
 (d)  
Do the engine start (normal) operation (AMM 71-00-00/201).

 (e)  
Let the engine become stable at the low idle for a minimum of two minutes.

 (f)  
Make sure that all of the bleed air and electrical loads are off.

 (g)  
Make sure that the engine instrumentation indications are in the operation ranges.


 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE SUFFICIENT BRAKES AND THAT THE
_______ EXHAUST (JET BLAST) IS NOT DANGEROUS. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
 (h)  Move the forward thrust lever (within 20 to 30 seconds) to the 80 |2 %N1 rpm. 1) Let the engine become stable for a minimum of 7 minutes
 NOTE: This will allow for thermal stabilization of the
____ engine, and will help make sure the vibration readings are accurate.
 (i)  
Move the forward thrust lever (within 20 to 30 seconds) to the idle position. 1) Let the engine become stable at the low idle for a minimum

 of 30 seconds.

 (j)  
Slowly move the forward thrust lever (at a constant rate, that takes approximately two minutes to accelerate) from the stable idle to the static T.O. power position in your records.


 NOTE: The rate of the acceleration must be sufficiently
____ slow (approximately two minutes) for you to find a vibration maximum.
 1)  During the acceleration, monitor the applicable engine VIBRATION indication. a) Make a record of the N1 and N2% rpm, where the
 vibration maximum occurs.

 2)  ALTERNATE ACCELERATION PROCEDURE; If this test is to get imbalance data for AVMs with trim balance function, use this acceleration procedure from idle to the static T.O. power position.
 CAUTION: DO NOT EXCEED THE STATIC TAKEOFF POWER SPEED FOR
_______ THE CURRENT CONDITIONS. ENGINE DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
 a)  Pause for 30 seconda at a fan speed in each of these fan speed intervals. Do not use a fan speed which exceeds the static T.O. power speed.
 b) 52.2-56.0 %N1
 c) 63.8-67.6 %N1
 d) 71.5-75.4 %N1
 e) 79.2-82.1 %N1
 f) 84.1-87.0 %N1
 g) 90.0-93.7 %N1

 (k)  
Let the engine become stable at the static T.O. power position for 30 seconds.

 (l)  
Slowly move the forward thrust lever (at a constant rate, that takes approximately two minutes to decelerate) from the stable static T.O. power position to the low idle.


 NOTE: The rate of the deceleration must be sufficiently
____ slow (approximately two minutes) for you to find a vibration maximum.
 1)  During the deceleration, monitor the applicable engine VIBRATION indication.
 2)  Make a record of the N1 and N2% rpm, where the vibration maximum occurs.
 (m)  
Let the engine become stable at the low idle.

 (n)  
Increase the engine speed to the % RPM, where you found the highest engine vibration.


 (o) Do the steps that follow: 1) Note the recorded vibration maximum points (%RPM) during accel and decel testing. 2) Let the engine become stable at each maximum vibration RPM point recorded. Recorded the vibration at each point and calculate the average of the measured points.
 3)  Record the vibration at each point and calculate the average of the measured points. 4) Vibration is acceptable per Test 7 if the mean calculated is less than 2.5 units for all AVM units (N1 and N2).
