Power Plant Removal - Bootstrap Method

(8) Attach the pulleys to the aft end of the cradle (Fig. 414).
(a) Use the ball lock pins.

At the aft bootstrap location attach the cable to the dynamometer.

Put the cable through the cradle pulleys and attach it to the lever hoist.

Align the transportation base/cradle assembly below the engine as follows:
(a)
Raise the transportation base/cradle assembly with the forward and aft lever hoists until it is aligned with the engine.
(b)
Lower the transportation base/cradle assembly to the ground.

Release the cradle assembly from the transportation base.

Set the dynamometers to the zero position.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE WHEN YOU RAISE THE
_______ CRADLE ASSEMBLY. DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR IF THE CRADLE ASSEMBLY HITS THE ENGINE.

Raise the cradle up to the engine.
(a) As you raise the engine, make sure you align the attitude of
the cradle with the attitude of the engine.
(15)
Attach the cradle to the engine as follows:

NOTE: To remove the engine, you must attach the engine to the
____ cradle with the two fan case attach points and one of the two turbine frame attach points.
(a) Do these steps to attach the fan case to the cradle (Fig. 415).
1) Remove the ball lock pins to release the inboard and outboard fan frame attach links from their retracted positions.
2) Turn the attach links 90 degrees and attach each to their fan frame attach points.
