(12) Follow these steps as you continue to raise the power plant:
(a) If the Thrust Links Were Kept with the Strut (preferred method): as you raise the engine, align the thrust links with the fan case fitting as follows: 1) For each thrust link, align the hole in the thrust link
with the hole in the fan frame fitting.
NOTE: If it is necessary, adjust the upload to align
____ the thrust link fitting in the hole in the fan frame fitting. Keep a constant gap between the fan frame fitting and the strut.
2) Install the bolt (1) and washer (2) to each thrust link to temporarily keep the thrust link attached to the fan frame fitting (Fig. 417).
(b) If the Thrust Links Were Kept with the Engine (alternate method), align the thrust fitting on the thrust link assembly with the bottom surface of the strut.
CAUTION: ENGINES WITHOUT THE VIBRATION ISOLATORS FOR THE FORWARD
_______ MOUNT/THRUST REVERSER HINGES; MAKE SURE THE RIGHT CONE BOLT FULLY ENGAGES THE MACHINED SLOT IN THE CROSS PIN. IF THE CONE BOLT INCORRECTLY ENGAGES THE SLOT, DAMAGE TO THE CONE BOLT AND CROSS PIN CAN OCCUR, AND THIS CAN CAUSE THE CONE BOLT TO NOT FULLY SEAT.
(c) Make sure the right cone bolt fully engages the machined slot in the cross pin.

(13) Apply a load to the hoists as follows:

CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY MORE THAN 4000 POUNDS (1820 KG) ON THE

FORWARD OUTBOARD AND FORWARD INBOARD DYNAMOMETERS, AND
1000 POUNDS (454 KG) ON THE AFT DYNAMOMETER. DAMAGE TO
EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(a) Apply a load to the hoists until each cone bolt comes out of its mating receptacle enough to permit the installation of a washer or retainer, and to permit each cone bolt nut to fully engage the cone bolt threads.
NOTE: If it is necessary, adjust the pitch and roll until
____ the cone bolts are engaged in their mating receptacles.
To install the cone bolt nuts, it is not necessary to compress the forward engine mount elastomer.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY MORE THAN 4000 POUNDS (1800 KG) TO EACH
_______ FORWARD DYNAMOMETER, AND 1000 POUNDS (450 KG) TO THE AFT DYNAMOMETER. DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(b) Increase the load to the hoists until the two forward
dynamometers read 3750 |100 lbs (1700 |45 kg), and the aft
dynamometer reads 750 |100 lbs (340 |45 kg).

Do these steps to install the cone bolt nuts on the forward engine mount:
NOTE: To install the forward cone bolt nuts, you must also do a

check of the self-locking feature of the cone bolt nuts.
(a) ENGINES WITHOUT THE VIBRATION ISOLATORS FOR THE FORWARD MOUNT/THRUST REVERSER HINGES; Install the cone bolt nuts (4) for the forward engine mount as follows (Fig. 418): 1) Apply antiseize compound to the threads of the nuts (9). 2) Install the retainer (7)(left cone bolt location),
washer (5) (right cone bolt location), and nuts (4) (Fig. 418). 3) Tighten the nuts until they fully engage the cone bolt threads but are not seated against the washer or retainer.
