POWER PLANT - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure includes these tasks:
 (1)  
Prepare the Airplane for the Removal of the Power Plant

 (2)  
Power Plant Removal - Bootstrap Method

 (3)  
Prepare For the Installation of the Power Plant

 (4)  
Power Plant Installation - Bootstrap Method

 (5)  
Put the Airplane back To Its Usual Condition

 B.  
During usual maintenance conditions (and with a fuel load), it can be necessary to raise the airplane slightly to remove one or two power plants.

 C.  
To remove the power plant, you must depressurize the pneumatic system.

 D.  
During the power plant removal, install protective caps to all of the tube ends, ducts, electrical connectors, fuel fittings, and hydraulic fittings. During the power plant installation, do not remove the caps until you make the connection.

 E.  
When you remove and install the power plant, do not disconnect hoses and tubes other than those specifically shown. When these hoses and tubes are disconnected, they can be installed incorrectly. This can cause incorrect operation of the component or system.

 F.  
When you replace a power plant, you can remove the inlet cowl and install it on the replacement power plant as follows:

 (1)  
You can remove the inlet cowl when the power plant is still attached to the strut or you can remove the inlet cowl when the power plant is attached to the transportation base.

 (a)  
If you remove the inlet cowl when it is attached to the strut, the inlet cowl attach bolt at the the 12 o'clock location will be difficult to remove.

 (b)  
If you remove the inlet cowl when it is attached to the transportation base, the three inlet cowl attach bolts between the 4 and 8 o'clock locations will be difficult to remove.

 (c)  
It is recommended that you remove the inlet cowl attach bolts between the 4 and 8 o'clock positions before you lower the power plant from the strut. When the power plant is attached to the transportation base, remove the remaining bolts and remove the inlet cowl.

 

 (2)  
Use the procedure in AMM 71-11-01/401 to remove and install the inlet cowl.
