KEEP THE PRESSURE ON "A" AND "B" HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS. THIS WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE FULL CONTROL OF THE NOSE GEAR STEERING AND THE MAIN WHEEL BRAKES.
IT IS NOT PERMITTED TO PUT THE FAN COWL PANELS IN THE NOT FULLY CLOSED POSITION SPECIALLY DURING ENGINE GROUND TESTS. FAILURE OR DAMAGE TO THE HOLD OPEN ROD ON THE LEFT FAN COWL CAN OCCUR BECAUSE OF INTERFERENCE WITH THE ACCESSORY GEARBOX.
(a) Do the engine start (normal) operation (AMM 71-00-00/201).
NOTE: Main Engine Controls (MECs) with Viton external seals
____ (POST-CFMI-SB 73-84) can have fuel leakage for a short period of time if the MEC is -34 degrees C (-29.2 degrees F) [Modification 1] or below -40 degrees C (-40 degrees F) [Modification 2]. If you see fuel leakage continue the start to idle.

If the fuel leakage stops in less than 5 minutes at idle, continue operation of the engine.

If the fuel leakage continues after 5 minutes at idle, shut down the engine, and repair the source of the leakage.

(b)
Let the engine become stable at the low idle.

(d)
If the %N2 rpm is out of the limits, do the idle speed
adjustment (Test No. 4).

(e)
Do the engine shutdown (normal) operation (AMM 71-00-00/201).

(f)
Open the applicable fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

(g)
If it is necessary, open the thrust reverser
(AMM 78-31-00/201).

(h)
Examine the fuel, oil, hydraulic, and pneumatic lines and
fittings (as it is necessary) for leakage.
1) If it is necessary, repair the leaks.
2) Do the test again.

(i)
Close the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).

(j)
If it is necessary, close the fan cowl panel
(AMM 71-11-02/201).

(2)
Do the leak check (fan cowl panels open)

TEST NO. 3 - LEAK CHECK-IDLE POWER

WARNING:_______ DO NOT OPEN THE FAN COWL PANELS DURING THE ENGINE
OPERATION. THE FORWARD LATCHES ARE IN THE HAZARD AREA
ZONE OF THE ENGINE INLET. IF YOU GO INTO THE HAZARD AREA,

INJURIES CAN OCCUR.
(a) Open the applicable fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).
CAUTION: DO NOT GO ABOVE THE LOW IDLE RPM WITH THE FAN COWL PANELS
_______ OPEN. DAMAGE TO THE PANELS CAN OCCUR.
SUPPLY THE PNEUMATIC POWER, DURING THE LEAK CHECK. THIS WILL PERMIT YOU TO MOTOR THE ENGINE, IF IT IS NECESSARY.
KEEP THE PRESSURE ON THE "A" AND "B" HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS. THIS WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE FULL CONTROL OF THE NOSE GEAR STEERING AND THE MAIN WHEEL BRAKES.
(b)
Do the engine start (normal) operation (AMM 71-00-00/201).

(d)
Make sure that the instruments have indications in the operation ranges.

(e)
If the %N2 rpm is out of the limits, do the idle speed adjustment (Test No. 4).

WARNING: OBEY THE HAZARD AREAS IN THE ENGINE (NORMAL) OPERATION
_______ PROCEDURE (AMM 71-00-00/201). USE ONLY THE ENTRY AREA. IF YOU GO INTO THE HAZARD AREAS, INJURIES CAN OCCUR.
IT IS MANDATORY THAT THE PERSONS IN THE FLIGHT COMPARTMENT SPEAK TO THE PERSONS WHO DO THE LEAK CHECK. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(f)
Use the entry area for the fan case in the engine (normal) operation procedure (AMM 71-00-00/201).

(g)
Examine the fuel, oil, hydraulic, and pneumatic lines and fittings (as necessary) for leakage.

(h)
Use the entry area to go out of the fan case area in the engine (normal) operation procedure (AMM 71-00-00/201).

(i)
Do the engine shutdown (normal) operation (AMM 71-00-00/201). 1) If it is necessary, repair the leaks. 2) Do the test again.
