(1)
Prepare for the MEC trim
(a)
Make sure that the Autothrottle PLA synchro is correct.
(b)
Adjust it if it is necessary (AMM 22-31-11/501).
(c)
Make sure that the specific gravity position is correct (Fig. 502).
NOTE: If you change to a different fuel type, you must change
____ the specific gravity position on the MEC. If the nominal value of the specific gravity is different than the standard value in the table, the actual value should be used. On a flight leg with more than one type of fuel, no specific gravity adjustment of the MEC is necessary.
(d) Open the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

TEST NO. 6 - MAIN ENGINE CONTROL (MEC) TRIM

(e) Make sure that the specific gravity position for the type of fuel agrees with the table:

(f)
If it is necessary, adjust the specific gravity position as follows: 1) Use a 5/32 inch hexagonal wrench to turn the screw in the
center of the specific gravity plate. 2) Align the scribe mark on the screw with the applicable mark on the plate.
(g)
Close the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

(2) Trim the Main Engine Control (MEC)
CAUTION: ENGINES WITH THE MEC P/N 9368M57P11;
_______ MAKE SURE THAT THE ENGINE HAS THE CFMI SB 73-006 INSTALLED. THE ENGINES THAT HAVE THE CFMI SB 73-006 SHOW THE SB 73-006 (REVISION 1 OR SUBSEQUENT) ON THE SERVICE BULLETIN DATA PLATE OF THE MEC. WITHOUT THE SB YOU CAN HAVE UNSATISFACTORY ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
(a)
Open the left thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
(b)
Do the travel check for the VSV feedback cable and the static rig check (AMM 75-31-02/501).
(c)
Do the travel check for the VBV feedback cable and the static rig check (AMM 75-32-05/501).
(d)
Make sure that the specific gravity position is correct. 1) Adjust it if it is necessary.
(e)
Open the right fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).
(f)
Do the gain check of the PLA (power lever angle) transducer (AMM 73-21-00/501).
(g)
Do the travel test for the engine control system (AMM 76-11-00/501).
(h)
Close the left thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
(i)
Close the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).
(j)
Do the idle leak check (Test No. 3).
(k)
Do the idle speed check (Test No. 4).
(l)
Do the check for the part power trim.
