TEST NO. 4 - IDLE SPEED CHECK

 5)  See that the applicable FUEL VALVE CLOSED light on the pilots' overhead panel, P5, is dim.
 NOTE: This shows that the valve is closed.

 6)  Open the applicable SHUTOFF VALVE ENG circuit breaker on the circuit breaker panel, P6, and install the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag.
 7)  Open the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).
 8)  Put the container below the low idle adjustment to catch the fuel that drains from the MEC port.
 9)  Use a 9/64 inch hexagonal wrench to remove the screws and washers that attach the low idle adjustment. a) Remove the assembly from the MEC port
 (Fig. 502, View B). b) Remove and discard the packing. 10) Compare the %N2 rpm record and the high idle trim target for the current OAT and barometric pressure.
 11) Find the adjustment that is necessary to get the %N2 rpm limits as follows: a) Use a 3/32 inch x 3 inch hexagonal wrench to carefully
 engage the high idle adjustment (through the port that
 you opened by the removal of the low idle adjustment).
 b)  Turn the high idle trim screw clockwise to increase the rpm or counterclockwise to decrease the rpm (one full turn causes approximately 5% change in the N2 rpm).
 c)  Set the %N2 rpm in the limits.
 12) Use a new packing to install the low idle adjustment in the MEC port. a) Install the two washers and screws. b) Tighten the screws to 19-22 pound-inches
 (2.1-2.5 newton-meters).
 13) Close the fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).
 14) Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag from the SHUTOFF VALVE ENG
