 15) Do the leak check (Test No. 3) of the low idle adjustment. a) If you find leaks, correct the leaks.
 16) Do the idle speed check and adjustment, if it is necessary, until the high idle is in the limits.

Close the IDLE CONT circuit breaker on the circuit breaker panel, P6.

 (e)  
If no more tests are necessary, do the engine shutdown (normal) operation (AMM 71-00-00/201).

 6.  Test No. 5 - Power Assurance Check__________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  
The Power Assurance Check is not a good test for the performance analysis of the engine. Do not use only the Power Assurance Check to accept or reject an engine. The Power Assurance run is usually not sufficiently stable to accurately calculate the engine's health. You can get a more reliable performance analysis by doing a test cell operation or on-wing performance trend monitoring.

 (2)  
This procedure may be used as a functional test to determine the general condition of an engine. This test gives an indication of the engine to produce the necessary takeoff power in the EGT and N2 limits during a full rated takeoff on a hot day (corner point) environment.

 (3)  
When you do this test as specified after maintenance, you must include a takeoff power check to make sure the engine and system are serviceable.

 (4)  
If you do Test No. 8 (Accel/Decel Check) after this test, it is not necessary to do the Takeoff Power Check.

 (5)  
See the Maximum Power Assurance (MPA) Tables for the corrected fan speeds of 80% N1, 85% N1 90% N1. The 90% N1 table where N1 is above the corner point (30°C OAT) have been reduced to hold constant EGT and N1 below -3-B1 takeoff power.

 (6)  
You can use one of the three MPA fan speeds if you do not go over the engine operation limits.

 (a)  
Make sure to use the correct thrust rating identified on the IDENT page of the FMC CDU (AMM 34-62-00/501 or AMM 34-62-01/501).

 (b)  
You should think of the operating thrust and the environment for the MPA fan speed you use.

 (7)  
Use the Power Assurance Check Example to find the EGT and N2 margins.

 (a)  
There may be adjustments to the EGT and N2 margins for the HPTCC Timer, altitude, and thrust level.

 (8)  
The power assurance check includes a takeoff power check.

 (9)  
For a takeoff power check only, use the procedure for the takeoff power check.

 (10)
 It is recommended that you do the Test No. 6 - Main Engine Control (MEC) Trim before you do the MPA and/or Takeoff Power Check for these reasons:

 (a)  
The MEC has not been trimmed.

 (b)  
Faulty engine trim is suspected.

 B.
Equipment

 (1)  
Alcohol Thermometer - MIL-T-11399,
 Type ML-5 (or mercury thermometer, if not taken
 aboard airplane), -40° to 120°F (-40° to 49°C),
 |1/2°F (|1/4°C) accuracy.
