(d) Do the above steps again to install the hold-open rod on the opposite thrust reverser.

WARNING:_______ WHEN YOU INSTALL THE THRUST REVERSER HOLD-OPEN RODS, MAKE SURE
THAT THREE OR MORE COMPLETE TURNS OF THE ADJUSTABLE SCREW ARE
ENGAGED WITH THE TWO CLEVISES. IF LESS THAN THREE TURNS OF THE
THREADS ARE ENGAGED, THE HOLD-OPEN RODS CAN BREAK WHEN YOU
DISCONNECT THE OPENING ACTUATORS. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND THRUST REVERSER.
(18) ENGINES WITH THE VIBRATION ISOLATORS FOR THE FORWARD MOUNT/THRUST REVERSER HINGES; Do these steps to attach the hold-open rods for the left and right thrust reversers (Fig. 401):
NOTE: Make sure you install the correct thrust reverser hold-open
____ rod to the applicable left or right location. The hold-open rods are not interchangeable. Use the hold-open rod with the mark 'LEFT' for the left side and the hold-open rod with the mark 'RIGHT' for the right side.
(a) Use the attached cap screws and washers to attach the hold-open rod to the thrust reverser compression pad.
NOTE: The cap screws and washers are attached to the
____ fitting when not in use.
(b) Align the inboard clevis end of the hold-open rod with the hole in the compression rod fitting.
NOTE: The compression rod fitting is found on the strut
____ and aft of the precooler.
(c)
Install the pin with the handle end on the forward side. 1) Attach the safety pin to the end of the pin.
(d)
Do the above steps again to install the hold-open rod on the opposite thrust reverser.
