On the aft overhead panel P5, make sure the applicable Power Management Control (PMC) switch is ON.

Do a test of the fire protection system.
(a)
On the aft electronics panel P8, make sure these switches on the Overheat Fire Protection Panel are in the correct position: 1) The two OVHT DET switches are in the NORMAL position. 2) Set the TEST switch to OVHT/FIRE.
(b)
Make sure these lights on the aft electronics panel, P8
come on:
1) The ENG 1 OVERHEAT (amber) light.
2) The ENG 2 OVERHEAT (amber) light.
3) The WHEEL WELL (red) light.
4) The ENGINE 1 Fire Switch (red) light.
5) The ENGINE 2 Fire Switch (red) light.
6) The APU Fire Switch (red) light.
(c)
Make sure these lights on the lightshield, P7 come on:
1) The two MASTER CAUTION (amber) lights.
2) The OVHT/DET (amber) light.
3) The two FIRE WARN (red) lights.
(d)
Make sure the fire bell in the M315 aural warning unit sounds.
(e)
Make sure the APU fire warning horn M277 in the main wheel well sounds.
(f)
Make sure the APU fire light L315 on the APU ground control
panel (P28) in the main wheel well comes on and goes off at
approximately 60 cycles per minute.
(g)
Push and release one of these four switches:
1) The APU remote HORN CUTOUT switch on the
APU Ground Control Panel, P28 in the main wheel well. 2) The BELL CUTOUT switch on the aft electronics panel, P8. 3) One of the two FIRE WARN lights on the lightshield, P7.
(h)
Make sure that these conditions occur after you push the
switch:
1) The fire bell in the M315 aural warning unit will stop
immediately. 2) The APU fire warning horn M277 will stop after an approximately three second audible signal. 3) The two FIRE WARN lights on the lightshield (P7) will go off. 4) The APU fire light on the APU ground control panel (P28) will come on continuously.
CAUTION:_______DO NOT TURN THE FIRE SWITCHES. YOU WILL DISCHARGE THE
FIRE EXTINGUISHING AGENT INTO THE ENGINE NACELLE.
(i) Pull out these switches, and make sure the locks release and the switches pull out without the use of the override button. 1) The Engine No. 1 FIRE switch.

2) The Engine No. 2 FIRE switch.
3) The APU FIRE switch.

Push in the all the fire switches.
(k)
Set the TEST switch to the OFF position, and make sure all
lights go off.
CAUTION:_______DO NOT TURN THE FIRE SWITCHES. YOU WILL DISCHARGE THE
FIRE EXTINGUISHING AGENT INTO THE ENGINE NACELLE.
(l)
Pull out these switches, and make sure the switches remain
locked and release only when the override button is used.
1) The Engine No. 1 FIRE switch.
2) The Engine No. 2 FIRE switch.
3) The APU FIRE switch.
(m)
Push in all the fire switches.
(n)
Set the two OVHT DET switches from the NORMAL position to the loop A position, and do the procedure again.
(o)
Set the two OVHT DET switches from the loop A position to the loop B position, and do the procedure again.
