____ (POST-CFMI-SB 73-84) can have fuel leakage for a short period of time if the MEC is -34 degrees C (-29.2 degrees F) [Modification 1] or below -40 degrees C (-40 degrees F) [Modification 2]. If you see fuel leakage continue the start to idle.

If the fuel leakage stops in less than 5 minutes at idle, continue operation of the engine.

 -
If the fuel leakage continues after 5 minutes at idle, shut down the engine, and repair the source of the leakage.

(a)  
If the ambient temperature is less than -31°F (-35°C), operate the engine at idle for two minutes before you change the thrust lever position.

 (b)  
Up to three and one-half minutes is permitted for the oil
 pressure to reach the minimum operating pressure.
 1) During this period, operate the engine at idle until the


 oil pressure is satisfactory.
 a) The LOW OIL PRESSURE light can stay ON
 b) The oil pressure can exceed the usual range.
 c) The FILTER BYPASS light can come ON.


 (c)  
If the N2 rotor does not turn, stop the start procedure and do a check for a frozen start valve. 1) Apply heat to free the start valve, or 2) Manually turn the butterfly valve 90° clockwise through the

 manual override guide port for the start valve (Fig. 209).

 (d)  
If one igniter starts cause a problem, use the two igniters
 during the next start.


 (e)  
If the engine is slow to accelerate after lightup and a
 hung start could occur, do the procedure to shut down the
 engine.
 1) Start the engine again with the usual start procedure.


 (f)  
If the engine is slow to start, hangs up, or will not accelerate to idle, do the engine shut down and find the cause of the problem.

 (3)  Operate the engine with the procedure for the usual engine operation and add these steps:
 NOTE: Operation of the engine at or near idle for two minutes will

 give an adequate warmup, even after a long cold soak in
 subzero temperatures.

 During engine operation in icing conditions, the ice may form on the spinner, fan blades, and first stage stator vanes. This ice will periodically flake off and go out through the fan exhaust.
 (a)  Let the generator frequency become stable before you apply
 large electrical loads.

 NOTE: Preheat of the CSD is usually not necessary, but cold
____ oil in the CSD will make the generator slow to develop steady power. One minute of operation is usually sufficient to warm up the CSD.

(b)  Turn on the engine anti-ice system during icing conditions (TAT below 50°F [10°C] and visible moisture). 1) Put the applicable ENG ANTI-ICE switch to the ON position. 2) Make sure the applicable COWL VALVE OPEN light comes on
 dim. 3) Make sure the applicable COWL ANTI-ICE light is off.
 NOTE: If the COWL VALVE OPEN light stays on bright with
____ with the engine at idle, put the APU BLEED AIR switches to the OFF position and increase thrust slightly (up to a maximum of 30% N1).
 (c)  
Do periodic engine run-up when icing conditions are present.

 1)  Increase the thrust level as high as practical (70%N1 recommended) at 30-minute intervals for approximately 30 seconds of duration.

 (d)  
If you do some of the Power Plant Tests (AMM 71-00-00/501), it can be necessary to turn off the engine anti-ice system. 1) Engine trim data is with no bleed air off-takes and no


 electrical loads.
