(c)
Make sure that all of the bleed air and electrical loads are off.
(d)
Let the engine operation become stable at the low idle.
(e)
Make sure that the %N2 rpm stays in the limits for the OAT and barometric pressure. 1) See the data for the LOW IDLE TRIM (AMM 71-00-01/201).
CAUTION: DO NOT ADJUST THE LOW IDLE RPM, IF THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE
_______ (OAT) IS 16°F (-9°C) OR BELOW.
CAUTION: A LOW IDLE ADJUSTMENT BELOW THESE TEMPERATURES CAN CAUSE
_______ AN INCORRECT LOW IDLE SPEED SCHEDULE. THE IDLE RPM CAN BE CONTROLLED BY A GOVERNOR IN THE MEC THAT IS NOT ADJUSTABLE (NOT BY THE ENGINE LOW IDLE SPEED SCHEDULE). DO A CHECK OF THE LOW IDLE SPEED, WHEN IT IS POSSIBLE, AT A HIGHER OAT THAN THESE TEMPERATURES.
(f)
If the %N2 rpm stays in the limits, continue to the high idle check.
(g)
If the %N2 rpm does not stay in the limits, adjust the low idle as follows: 1) Make a record of the %N2 rpm.

TEST NO. 4 - IDLE SPEED CHECK
_____________________________
2) Do the engine shutdown (normal) operation
(AMM 71-00-00/201). 3) Open the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201). 4) Compare the %N2 rpm record and the low idle trim target for
the current OAT and barometric pressure.
5) Find the adjustment that is necessary to get the %N2 rpm in the limits as follows: a) Use a 3/16 inch hexagonal wrench to adjust the low idle
trim screw (Fig. 502).
1.
Turn it clockwise to increase the rpm or turn it
_ counterclockwise to decrease the rpm (one full turn causes approximately 5% change in the N2 rpm).
2.
Set the %N2 rpm in the limits.
_ 6) Close the fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201). 7) Do the low idle check and adjustment, if it is necessary,
until the low idle is in the limits.

(2) High Idle Check
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE SUFFICIENT BRAKES AND THAT THE
_______ EXHAUST (JET BLAST) IS NOT A HAZARD TO PERSONS OR EQUIPMENT. THE IDLE RESET SOLENOID ON THE MEC WILL MOVE TO THE HIGH POSITION, AND THE N2 RPM WILL INCREASE APPROXIMATELY 10%.
(a)
With the engine at the low idle (no airbleeds or electrical loads), open the IDLE CONT circuit breaker on the circuit breaker panel, P6.
(b)
Make sure that the %N2 rpm increases approximately 10% and becomes stable at the target %N2 rpm. 1) You will find the limits for the current OAT and barometric
pressure in the HIGH IDLE Trim Data (AMM 71-00-01/201).
(c)
If the %N2 rpm is not in the limits, adjust the high idle as follows: 1) Make a record of the %N2 rpm. 2) Close the IDLE CONT circuit breaker on the circuit breaker
panel, P6. 3) Do the engine shutdown (normal) operation (AMM 71-00-00/201). 4) Make sure that the start lever is in the CUTOFF position.
