CAUTION: DRY MOTOR THE ENGINE TO EXTINGUISH AN INTERNAL ENGINE
_______ FIRE OR TAILPIPE FIRE. USE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER ON THESE FIRES ONLY IF THE DRY MOTOR CANNOT CONTROL OR EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE ENGINE WILL BE DAMAGED IF A FIRE EXTINGUSHER IS USED, AND YOU MUST REMOVE THE ENGINE.
 4)  Dry motor the engine to extinguish the internal or tailpipe fire.
 NOTE: The hot section of the engine can be resistant to
____ very high temperatures. Usually, if the fire is permitted to burn until the engine can be dry motored, there will be less damage to the engine. There will be more damage to the engine if a fire extinguisher is used. The materials from the fire extinguisher could cause corrosion. The engine could be damaged because the components of the engine do not become cool equally.
 5) Ignore the starter time limits and dry motor the engine to clear the internal engine or tailpipe fire. 6) After the fire is extinguished, complete the engine shutdown procedure.
 (c)  Emergency engine shutdown (engine fire warning). 1) Move the forward thrust lever rearward to the idle
 position. 2) Immediately put the start lever to the CUTOFF position. 3) On the pilots' aft electronics panel P8, pull the
 applicable fire switch. 4) Put the applicable FUEL PUMPS switches to the OFF position. 5) If fire warning indication continues, turn the applicable
 fire switch to discharge the fire extinguishing agent. 6) Monitor all fire warning indications.
 G.  Put the Airplane Back to the Usual Condition.

(4)  S 842-114-C00Remove the engine inlet guard from the inlet area.
 (5)  S 842-115-C00It is recommended that the engine inlet and exhaust covers are installed when practical and necessary as determined by the airline.
 NOTE:____ When the engine is not operating, there is a possibility of foreign object damage (FOD) or snow/rain ingestion under certain conditions.

 6.  Power Plant Operation - Dry Motor or Wet Motor the Engine_________________________________________________________
 A. General
 CAUTION:_______DO NOT REPLACE AN IDLE LEAK CHECK BY A MOTORING TEST. YOU CAN NOT DETECT POTENTIAL OIL LEAKS WITH A MOTORING TEST. IF YOU DO A MOTORING TEST INSTEAD OF AN IDLE LEAK CHECK, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
 (1)  
This procedure can be used for all operations to turn the engine with only the starter.
