(8) Start the engine with cross bleed air.
(a)
Make sure that engine to be started has been prepared for
operation.
(b)
Make sure the operating engine is at idle.
(c)
Do the prestart procedure: 1) Prepare the check sheet to make a record of the engine data during the start and ground run operations.
2) On the forward overhead panel P5, make sure these switches
are in the correct position:
a) FWD, CTR, and AFT
FUEL PUMPS switches
on the Fuel Control Panel
for the engine to be started -OFF
b) L PACK and R PACK
switches on the
Pneumatic Control Panel - OFF
c) ISOLATION VALVE switch on
the Pneumatic Control Panel -OPEN
d) Applicable
No.1 or 2 BLEED switch
on the Pneumatic Control Panel
for the operating engine -ON
e) WING ANTI-ICE switch on
the Anti-Ice Control Panel -OFF
f) Applicable
No. 1 or 2 ENG ANTI-ICE switch
on the Anti-Ice Control Panel -OFF
g) Applicable HYD PUMPS
"A" ENG 1 and ELEC 2 or
"B" ELEC 1 and ENG 2 switches -ON
3) On the aft overhead panel P5, make sure the applicable
Engine 1 or 2 PMC switch is ON.
4) Make sure the applicable circuit breakers on the circuit breaker panel P6 are closed: a) For Engine No. 1:

ENG 1 START VALVE

ENGINE NO. 1 LEFT IGNITION

3.
ENGINE NO. 1 RIGHT IGNITION

b) For Engine No. 2:

(d) Move the thrust lever forward for the operating engine until
the manifold duct pressure shows 30 psi minimum.

On the forward overhead panel P5, put the FUEL PUMPS FWD and AFT switches for tank numbered same as engine to be started to the ON position. 1) Make sure the two applicable LOW PRESSURE lights go out.
(f)
Continue with the usual start procedure.
(g)
Decrease the power to idle on the engine used for cross-start after engine being started attains starter cutout speed.
(h)
Put the ISOLATION VALVE switch to the AUTO position.

(9) Start the engine with the start valve manual override.
NOTE: If the start valve electrical circuit becomes inoperative,

the start valve can be opened manually.
CAUTION: POSITIVE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE PERSONS IN THE FLIGHT
_______ COMPARTMENT AND THE GROUND MAINTENANCE PERSONS IS MANDATORY.
(a) Make sure you have interphone communication between the persons on the ground and the persons in the flight compartment.
CAUTION: MANUAL OPERATION OF THE START VALVE WITHOUT AIR PRESSURE
_______
IN THE INLET DUCT MAY DAMAGE THE VALVE.
(b) Do the usual engine start procedure except for these steps:
WARNING: OBSERVE HAZARD AREAS, PAYING PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO
_______ ENTRY CORRIDOR. ENTRY INTO HAZARD AREA COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE.
1) Move the applicable ENGINE START switch to the GRD position.
2) Tell the person on the ground to manually open the start valve. a) Push a 3/8 inch square drive extension through the
guide port for the start valve manual override (Fig. 209). b) Turn the butterfly valve 90° clockwise to the OPEN position. c) You must keep the valve in the OPEN position.
