TEST NO. 6 - MAIN ENGINE CONTROL (MEC) TRIM

 7.  Test No. 6 - Main Engine Control (MEC) Trim___________________________________________
 A.  General
 (1)  
This test gives the checks that you must do after a main engine control (MEC) replacement.

 (2)  
Do this test for the conditions that follow:

 (a)  
If you think that you have incorrect engine trim.

 (b)  
The Power Plant Test Reference Table tells you to do this test or a part of of this test after a component replacement.

 

 (3)  
This test gives the instructions for the specific gravity adjustment and the trim adjustment for the part power.


 (a)  It also includes these checks:
 1)  The travel check for the VSV (variable stator vane) and VBV (variable bleed valve) feedback cable and the static rig check.
 2) The gain check of the PLA (power lever angle) transducer.
 3) The travel test for the engine control system.
 4) The idle leak check.
 5) The idle speed check.
 6) The power assurance check (optional).
 7) The accel/decel check.

 (4)  
The specific gravity adjustment is in a different paragraph from the trim adjustment.

 (a)  This will help in tests where only the specific gravity adjustment is necessary.

 (5)
The trim changes with the relative wind direction and velocity.

 (a)  Do not adjust it when the wind direction and velocity are more than the limits in the engine (normal) operation procedure (AMM 71-00-00/201).

 B.  
Equipment

 (1)  
Part Power Rig Pin - C76001-2 (stored in
 fly-away kit located in electronics compartment
 [kit is secured to forward outboard leg of
 battery support])

 

 NOTE: If fan cowl panel is not equipped with a
____ part power rig pin hole (Fig. 507), then the following rig pin is necessary (use of the above rig pin will not permit the left fan cowl panel to be closed): C76001-1
