 (10) Engine operation above idle power.
 (a)  After the engine start, operate the engine at low idle power
 for two minutes minimum before you accelerate the engine above
 idle power.
 NOTE:____ Taxi time at or near idle power can be part of the two
 minute warmup period.
 (b)  Make sure your thrust lever movements are slow, deliberate, and
 smooth when possible.
 (c)  Move the forward thrust lever forward to get the power setting
 that is specified in the maintenance procedure.
 (d)  Monitor the engine instrument indications for values in the
 usual operational limits.

 Shut down the engine.

 (a)
Usual engine shutdown.


 1)  Move the forward thrust lever rearward to the idle position.
 CAUTION: DO NOT SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE UNTIL THE ENGINE HOT
_______ SECTION HAS BECOME COOL AND THERMALLY STABLE. TURBINE WHEEL SEIZURE COULD OCCUR.
 2)  Operate the engine for three minutes minimum at low idle power to permit the engine to become cool.
 NOTE: Taxi time, at or near idle power, can be part of the
____ three minute period to cool the engine.
 CAUTION: DO NOT SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE WITHOUT PNEUMATIC POWER

 3) Supply the pneumatic power (AMM 36-05-00/201). 4) Move the start lever to the CUTOFF position.

CAUTION: MONITOR THE EGT DURING THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN FOR SIGNS
_______ OF AN INTERNAL ENGINE FIRE OR A TAILPIPE FIRE (THE EGT WILL NOT DECREASE AFTER THE FUEL IS SHUT OFF).
 IF IMMEDIATE SHUTDOWN INDICATIONS ARE NOT SEEN, THE CAUSE MUST BE FOUND AND MADE CORRECT BEFORE THE NEXT START. FAILURE TO CORRECT THE CAUSE OF THE LONG SHUTDOWN MAY RESULT IN ENGINE OVERTEMPERATURE AND/OR TORCHING ON NEXT ENGINE START.
 a)  Make sure the N2, EGT, and FF (fuel flow) immediately decrease during the engine shutdown.
 b)  Make sure the FUEL VALVE CLOSED light on pilots' overhead panel (P5) goes bright (valve in transit) and then dim (valve closed).
 c) Make sure the N2, EGT, FF, and N1 indications decrease. d) Make sure the engine decelerates freely without binding, rubbing, and scraping.
 e)  During deceleration, monitor the engine for signs of an internal engine or tailpipe fire (EGT does not decrease).
 f)  If internal engine or tailpipe fire occurs, do the procedure for an internal engine or tailpipe fire.
 5)  Put the applicable FUEL PUMPS switches to the OFF position.
 (b)  Internal engine or tailpipe fire during shutdown. 1) Make sure the forward thrust lever is at the aft position. 2) Make sure the start lever is in the CUTOFF position.
 CAUTION: DO NOT ENGAGE THE ENGINE STARTER AT AN ENGINE SPEED
