F. Prepare for Installation

Do this task to examine for the worn parts at the installation points: "Outboard Elevator PCP Inspection" (AMM 27-31-08/601).

Attach the outboard elevator PCP (1) to the handling cradle.

Install the Outboard Elevator PCP
S 422-022
(1)
Install the outboard elevator PCP:
(a)
Lift the handling cradle with the PCP into its position.
(b)
Move and turn the aft end of the handling cradle down until the PCP is clear of the structure.
NOTE: The forward end of the PCP must go through the opening
____ in the stabilizer rear spar first.
(c)
Align the holes in the PCP trunnion with the mating holes in the rear spar.
(d)
Apply a layer of sealant on all the length, threads, shank and on the bottom of the bolt head (3).
(e)
Install the washers (4) and the trunnion bolts (3).
(f)
Use the torque wrench adapter for the outboard elevator PCP to tighten the bolts (3) to 1200-1400 pound-inches.
(g)
Remove the outboard elevator holding tool and manually hold the elevator in the up position.
