Set the stabilizer to the neutral rig position (AMM 27-41-00/201).

 (a)  
Make sure the stabilizer trim position indicators on the P8 control stand shows 3.00 units of trim.

 (b)  
Make sure the B dimension on the stabilizer jackscrew is


 7.42 |0.05 inches.

Set the STAB TRIM 2 and 3 switches on the control stand to CUTOUT.

Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 (a)  
P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) 7E7, L STAB TRIM S/O VLV
 2) 7E20, R STAB TRIM S/O VLV

Do a Check of the Adjustment of the Inboard Elevator PCP

 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRPLANE IS NOT ON JACKS DURING THE
_______ ADJUSTMENT AND TEST OF THE INBOARD ELEVATOR PCP. THIS IS TO PREVENT THE POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
Make sure that the control column is in neutral detent.

 (2)  
Make sure the inboard elevator is in the limits of the tolerances in Fig. 203.

 (3)  
If the inboard elevator is not in the tolerance, adjust the inboard elevator PCP.

Adjust the Inboard Elevator PCP

 (1)  
Remove the access panel 334GB or 344GB (AMM 06-09-06/201).

Adjust the input control rod of the PCP until the adjustments are satisfactory.

 (a)  
Adjust the outboard PCP if it is necessary (AMM 27-31-08/201).

Measure the distance from the inboard elevator trailing edge to the centerline of the index plate.

If the distance is less than 1.24 inches, do the fine adjustment:

 (a)  
Loosen the two checknuts (6) and (8) at the adjustable end of the input control rod. 1) On the left side, make the rod shorter to move the trailing

 edge of the inboard elevator down. 2) On the right side, make the rod shorter to move the trailing edge of the inboard elevator up.

 (b)  
Turn the adjustment sleeve (7) until the position of the elevator trailing edge is in the tolerance of Fig. 203.


 NOTE: One half turn of the adjustment sleeve gives 0.19 inch
____ movement of the elevator trailing edge.
 (c)  
Tighten the checknut (6) to 400-500 pound-inches.

 (d)  
Tighten the checknut (8) to 475-600 pound-inches.

 (5)  
If the distance is more than 1.24 inches, do the steps that follow:

 (a)  
Set all FLT CONTROL HYD POWER TAIL switches on the P461 Pilots' Overhead Maintenance Panel in SHUTOFF.

 (b)  
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 1)  The P180, DC Power Distribution:
 a) 180H8, ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 1
 b) 180E7, ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 2
 c) 180H23, ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 3
 d) 180E22, ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 4


 (c)  
Remove the pivot bolt (1).

 (d)  
Turn the clevis, or the sleeve and the clevis together in the tube as necessary to get the 1.24 inch distance.


 NOTE: One half turn of the clevis gives 0.56 inch of movement
____ at the elevator trailing edge. One half turn of the sleeve and the clevis gives 0.74 inch of movement at the elevator trailing edge.
