WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1)
Do this task to pressurize the hydraulic systems No. 1 and No. 4: "Supply Hydraulic Power" (Ref 29-11-00/201).

(2)
Use the STAB TRIM ALTN switches on the control stand to set the stabilizer to the rig neutral position (Ref 27-41-00/201).
(a)
Make sure the stabilizer trim position indicators on the control stand shows 3.00 units of trim.
(b)
Make sure the B dimension on the stabilizer jackscrew is
7.42 +/- 0.05 inches.
S 865-110
(3)
Set the STAB TRIM 2 and 3 switches on the control stand to CUTOUT.

Do a check of the inboard elevator adjustment:
(a)
If the trailing edge of the inboard elevator align in the tolerances of | 0.40 inches of the groove in the elevator index plate, the rig adjustment is correct. 1) If the rig adjustment is not correct, adjust the inboard
elevator PCP.

Do a check of the outboard elevator adjustment:
(a)
If the trailing edge of the inboard and outboard elevators align in the tolerance of 2.2-2.8 inches, then the rig adjustment is correct. 1) If the rig adjustment is not correct, adjust the input rod
of the outboard elevator PCP.
S 835-050
(7)
Adjust the outboard elevator:
(a)
Measure the distance of the outboard elevator from neutral.
(b)
If the distance is less than 0.65 inch do the close adjustment: 1) Loosen the two checknuts at the adjustable end of the input rod of the outboard elevator PCP.
2) Turn the adjustment sleeve to align the elevator lower surface to the specified limits.
NOTE: One half turn of the adjustment sleeve gives 0.06
____ inch movement of the trailing edge of the elevator.
(c) If the distance is more than 0.65 inch, adjust the length of the input rod: 1) Set all the FLT CONTROL HYD POWER TAIL switches on the P461
Pilots' Overhead Maintenance Panel in SHUTOFF.
2) Open these circuit breakers on the P180 DC Power Distribution Panel and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags: a) 180E7 ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 2 b) 180E22 ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 4 c) 180H8 ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 1 d) 180H23 ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 3
3) Disconnect the input rod from the summing lever of the
outboard elevator PCP. 4) Loosen the checknuts if it is necessary. 5) Turn the clevis or the clevis and the sleeve together to
get the nearest possible adjustment.
NOTE: One half turn of the clevis gives 0.24 inch of
____ movement at the trailing edge of the elevators; one half turn of the clevis and the sleeve together gives 0.30 inch of movement.
