(b) Use the STAB TRIM ALTN switches to move the stabilizer until
the "B" dimension is 7.40-7.44 inches (188.0-189.0 millimeters)
NOTE: The "B" dimension is the distance along the ballscrew____
between the surfaces of the ballnut and the ballscrew
stops (Fig. 501, Sheet 1).
(c) Set the STAB TRIM 3 switch to CUTOUT.
(d) Make sure the stabilizer position indicators on the control
stand show 2.9-3.1 units of trim.
(e) Set the STAB TRIM 2 switch to ON.
(f) Hold the STAB TRIM ALTN switches to the APL NOSE UP position.
1) Make sure the leading edge of the stabilizer moves down.
2) While the stabilizer moves, set the STAB TRIM 2 switch to
CUTOUT.
a) Make sure the stabilizer stops in less than 1 second.
3) Set the STAB TRIM 2 switch to ON.
a) Make sure that the stabilizer starts to move down again
in less than 1 second.
(g) Release the STAB TRIM ALTN switches.
1) Make sure the stabilizer stops in less than 1 second.
(h) Hold the STAB TRIM switches on the captain's control wheel to
the NOSE DN position.
1) Make sure that the leading edge of the stabilizer moves up.
2) While the stabilizer moves, set the STAB TRIM 2 switch to
CUTOUT.
a) Make sure the stabilizer stops in less than 1 second.
3) Set the STAB TRIM 2 switch to ON.
a) Make sure the leading edge of the stabilizer moves up
again in less than 1 second.
(i) Release the STAB TRIM switches on the captain's control wheel.
1) Make sure the stabilizer stops in less than 1 second.
(j) Set the STAB TRIM 2 switch to CUTOUT and the STAB TRIM 3 switch
to ON.
(k) Hold the STAB TRIM switches on the first officer's control
wheel to the NOSE UP position.
1) Make sure the leading edge of the stabilizer moves down.
2) While the stabilizer moves, set the STAB TRIM 3 switch to
CUTOUT.
a) Make sure the stabilizer stops in less than 1 second.
3) Set the STAB TRIM 3 switch to ON.
a) Make sure the leading edge of the stabilizer moves down
again in less than 1 second.
(l) Release the STAB TRIM switches on the first officer's control
wheel.
1) Make sure the stabilizer stops in less than 1 second.
(m) Set the STAB TRIM 2 and 3 switches to AUTO.

Do this test of the stabilizer trim control:
(a)
Set the STAB TRIM 2 switch to CUTOUT.
(b)
Use the STAB TRIM ALTN switches on the control stand to set the stabilizer at 7-8 units of trim.
(c)
Hold the STAB TRIM switches on the captain's control wheel to the NOSE UP position for three seconds. 1) Make sure the leading edge of the stabilizer moves down. 2) Release the STAB TRIM switches.
(d)
Hold the STAB TRIM switches on the first officer's control wheel to the NOSE DN position for three seconds. 1) Make sure the leading edge of the stabilizer moves up. 2) Release the STAB TRIM switches.
(e)
Set the STAB TRIM 2 switch to ON and the STAB TRIM 3 switch to CUTOUT.
(f)
Hold the STAB TRIM switch on the captain's control wheel to the NOSE DN position for three seconds. 1) Make sure the leading edge of the stabilizer moves up. 2) Release the STAB TRIM switches.
(g)
Hold the STAB TRIM switches on the first officer's control wheel to the NOSE UP position for three seconds. 1) Make sure the leading edge of the stabilizer moves down. 2) Release the STAB TRIM switches.
(h)
Set the STAB TRIM 2 and 3 switches to CUTOUT.
(i)
Put the STAB TRIM switches on the captain's control wheel in the NOSE UP and then NOSE DN position. 1) Make sure that there is no movement of the stabilizer in
one or the other direction.
