Remove the Upper and Lower Gimbal Pins

(1) Adjust the stabilizer jacks to move the load of the upper gimbal attachment to the actuator fitting of the stabilizer center section.

WHEN THE LEVER CHAIN HOISTS HOLD ANY LOAD. THE HOISTS CAN
RELEASE THE LOAD AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO
EQUIPMENT.

Adjust the hoist until it holds the weight of the mechanism and permits the gimbal pins to move freely.

Disconnect the hydraulic lines from the hydraulic brake units and the hydraulic motors.
(a)
Seal all the hydraulic lines with plugs and seal the ports with caps.
(b)
Release the hydraulic lines from the supports of the gearbox on the mechanism.

Disconnect the hydraulic lines from the stabilizer trim control module.
(a)
Remove the hydraulic line for access to the lower gimbal if it is necessary.
(b)
Seal all the hydraulic lines with plugs and seal the ports with caps.

Remove the pins (12) from the airplane attachment ends of the antirotation cables.

Disconnect the upper gimbal pins (Fig. 402):
(a)
Remove the nuts (6) that keep the upper gimbal pins (7 and 8) on the locating screws (11).
