Procedure

(1)
Install the pivot pins (7 and 8):
(a)
Apply a layer of grease (BMS 3-33 or MIL-G-23827) to the inner pivot pin (8) and the bearing surface of the outer pivot pin (7).
(b)
Put the inner pivot pin (8) in the outer pivot pin (7).
(c)
Align the support fittings (14 and 17) with the stabilizer hinge bearing (15).
(d)
Install the pivot pins (7 and 8) with the bolt heads inboard.
1) Make sure you align the slots in the pivot pin heads for the subsequent installation of the antirotation plate (12).
(e)
Install the outer nut (22).
1) Tighten the outer nut (22) by hand.
(f)
Move the inner pivot pin (8) approximately 4 inches (102 millimeters) inboard.
(g)
Install the bolt (23).
(h)
Loosen the outer nut (22) 30 degrees to align the bolt.
(i)
Move the inner pivot pin (8) to its initial position.
(j)
Make sure you align the slots in the pivot pin head.

(k) (l) (m) (n) (o) (p) Install the inner nut (20). 1) Tighten the inner nut (20) to 500-700 pound-inches (56.5-79.1 newton-meters).Install the internal lockbolt (9) with the cotter pin (21).Install the antirotation plate (12), the washer (11) and the lockbolt nut (10).Make sure you install the antirotation plate (12) in the notch of the adjustment screw (6) and the pivot pins (7 and 8).Tighten the lockbolt nut (10) to 50-70 pound-inches (5.7-7.9 newton-meters).Install the cotter pin. 1) If it is necessary, you can loosen the lockbolt nut (10) to align the cotter pin hole.
