 (i)  Push the bypass valve switch on the applicable STCM. 1) Hold the bypass valve switch in this position. 2) Hold the STAB TRIM switches on the first officer's control wheel to the NOSE UP position for ten seconds. 3) Make sure that there is no movement of the ballscrew. 4) Release the bypass valve switch.
 (4)  S 794-029Examine the connections at the hydraulic brake for a hydraulic leak.
 (5)  S 864-030Use the STAB TRIM ALTN switches to set the stabilizer to the neutral position (3 units of trim).
 (6)  S 864-031If the hydraulic power is not necessary, do this task: Hydraulic Power" (AMM 29-11-00/201). "Remove
 (7)  S 864-032If the electrical power is not necessary, do this task: Electrical Power" (AMM 24-22-00/201). "Remove
 (8)  S 414-033Close the access door 312A (AMM 06-09-05/201).

 STABILIZER TRIM DRIVE MECHANISM - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  There are two tasks in this procedure. The tasks are the removal and the installation of the stabilizer trim drive mechanism (which is referred to as the "mechanism"). The procedure has these parts:
 (1)
The removal of the mechanism

 (2)
The installation of the mechanism.

 B.  
With the airplane stopped, the force of the stabilizer on the mechanism is about 2600 pounds (11,560 newtons) up. It is therefore necessary to hold the stabilizer during and after removal. The complete mechanism assembly weighs approximately 565 pounds (256 kilograms). You must use the hoist equipment for the removal and the installation.
