Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 (a)  
P180 DC Power Distribution Panel
 1) 180E7 ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 2
 2) 180E22 ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 4
 3) 180H8 ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 1
 4) 180H23 ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 3

 

 S 865-102
 (3)
Set the STAB TRIM 2 and 3 switch on the control stand to CUTOUT.

 S 035-103

 (4)  
Disconnect the control rods (3 locations) between the autopilot servo modules and the aft quadrant.

 (5)  
Make sure that the control columns have full travel.

 S 225-028

 (6)  
Do a check of the body cable adjustment:

 (a)  
The tensions in cables E1A and E1B are correct if the tension is in the tolerance of Graph I, Fig. 502.

 (b)  The tensions in cables E2A and E2B are correct if the tension is in the tolerance of Graph II, Fig. 502.

 (7)  
Adjust the body cables:

 (a)  
Install the rig pin E-2 at the bottom of the aft quadrant.

 (b)  
Disconnect the control rod from the right forward quadrant crank.

 (c)  
Install the rig pin E-1 in the crank at the bottom of the left control column (if the pin moves freely).

 (d)  
Adjust the turnbuckles in cables E1A and E1B if it is necessary until these conditions occur: 1) Make sure that you can install the rig pin E-1 easily by

 hand. 2) Make sure the tension of the forward quadrant is in the tolerances of graph I, Fig. 502.

 (e)  
Make sure the cables are in a straight line through the pressure bulkhead. 1) Adjust the pressure seals in the pressure bulkhead, if it

 is necessary to keep the cables straight.

 (f)  
Make sure that you can remove the rig pins E-1 and E-2 easily by hand after you adjusted the cables.

 (g)  
If you install new cables; extend the cables. 1) Adjust the turnbuckles equally to tighten the cables E2A


 and E2B to 300 | 20 pound. 2) Remove the rig pins E-1 and E-2. 3) Move the control column forward and aft 25 times. 4) Decrease the tension in cables E2A and E2B equally until
 the cable tensions are in the tolerances shown in graph II, Fig. 502.
 (h)  
Install the rig pins E-1 and E-2.

 (i)  
Adjust the turnbuckles in the E2A and E2B cables until you can do these steps: 1) Connect the control rod at the right forward crank. 2) Install the clevis bolt easily by hand.

 (j)  
Apply a thin layer of grease on the clevis bolt.

 (k)  
Install the clevis bolt with the head of the bolt up, the washer, and the nut. 1) Tighten the nut.
