Remove the spacer (19).
(c)
Remove the retaining nut (3) and the washer (1).
(d)
Install the replacement tool that has the attachments for the hinge bearing removal (Fig. 202).
(e)
Remove the hinge bearing (15) from the bearing retainer.

NOTE:____Use this tool with shear deck fittings (Fig. 201). Use the tool only in an area that has no high winds.

Do this task: "Horizontal Stabilizer Hinge Wear Limits Inspection" (AMM 27-41-02/601).

Make sure the retaining nut (2), on the outboard side of the bearing retainer housing, is tight and installed with a lockwire and the washer (2A).

Install the hinge bearing (15):
(a)
Apply a thin layer of grease (BMS 3-33 or MIL-G-23827) on the outer surface of the hinge bearing (15).

Use the replacement tool (Fig. 202) to install a replacement hinge bearing (15).
(c)
Install the washer (3A) and the retaining nut (3) on the inboard side of the bearing retainer housing. 1) Use the spanner wrench to tighten the retaining nut (3) to
200-300 pound-inches (22.6-33.9 newton-meters). 2) Install a lockwire on the retaining nut (3).
F. Install the Stabilizer Hinge Support Fittings (Fig. 201)

(1) Make sure the support fitting (14) of the inboard side of the hinge has the support fitting (14), the bushing (4), the adjustment screw (6), the washer (4A), and the nut (5).
