_______ POUND-INCHES (2.8 NEWTON-METERS) TO THE ADJUSTMENT SCREW (6) AND THE OUTER NUT (22). IF YOU TIGHTEN THE NUT TOO MUCH, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HINGE BEARING (15).
(b) Turn the adjustment screw (6) and the outer nut (22) until d is in the tolerance on the two hinges and the lockplate slots align. 1) Make sure there is a tight contact between the hinge
bearing and the adjacent parts when you tighten the outer nut (22).

Assemble one of the hinges.
(a)
Move the inner pivot pin (8) approximately 4 inches inboard. 1) Install the bolt (23). 2) Loosen the outer nut (22) to 30 degrees maximum to align
the bolt.
(b)
Move the inner pivot pin (8) to its initial position.
(c)
Make sure that you align the slots in the pivot pin head.
(d)
Install the inner nut (20).
1) Tighten the nut to 500-700 pound-inches (56.5-79.1 newton-meters).
(e)
Install the internal lockbolt (9) and the cotter pin (21).
(f)
Install the antirotation plate (12), the washer (11), and the lockbolt nut (10).
(g)
Make sure you install the antirotation plate (12) in the notch of the adjustment screw (6) and the pivot pins (7 and 8). 1) Tighten the lockbolt nut (10) to 50-70 pound-inches
(5.7-7.9 newton-meters). 2) Install the cotter pin. 3) If you cannot install the cotter pin, loosen the nut (10)
to the first cotter pin hole.

(h) Measure d at the left and right hinges.
1) Make sure that d on the left and right sides agree in |0.030 inch (|0.76 millimeter).

Tighten the outer nut (22) and the adjustment screw (6) until the hinge bearing (15) touches the spacer (19) and the adjustment screw (6).

the bolt.
(c)
Move the inner pivot pin (8) to its original position.
(d)
Make sure that you align the slots in the pivot pin head.

Install the inner nut (20).
1) Tighten the nut to 500-700 pound-inches.
(f)
Install the internal lockbolt (9) and the cotter pin (21).
(g)
Install the antirotation plate (12), the washer (11) and the lockbolt nut (10).
(h)

(i)
Tighten the lockbolt nut (10) to 50-70 pound-inches.
(j)
Install the cotter pin.
1) If you cannot install the cotter pin, loosen the nut (10) to the first cotter pin hole.

Remove the check tool from the airplane.

Connect the trusses to the support fitting of the inboard hinge and the airplane structure.
(a)
Tighten the nuts.
(b)
Install the cotter pin.
