E. Prepare for Removal

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE
_______ STABILIZER AND ELEVATOR SURFACES BEFORE YOU MOVE THE STABILIZER. THE STABILIZERS AND THE ELEVATORS CAN MOVE QUICKLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1)
Set the stabilizer at neutral rig position (Fig. 402).

Do this task to depressurize the hydraulic system No. 2 and No. 3: "Remove Hydraulic Power" (AMM 29-11-00/201).

Do this task: "Supply Electrical Power" (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Set the STAB TRIM 2 and 3 switches to CUTOUT.

Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a)
P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
1) 7E7, L STAB TRIM S/O VLV
2) 7E20, R STAB TRIM S/O VLV

If the electrical power is not necessary, do this task: "Remove Electrical Power" (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Open the access door 312A (AMM 06-09-05/201).

Install the hoist equipment for the mechanism (Fig. 401):
(a)
Loosely attach the support brackets of the spreader bar to the stiffeners with bolts.

(b)
Loosely attach the spreader bar to the support brackets with the bolts.
(c)
Tighten the bolts of the support bracket and the spreader bar equally.
(d)
Attach the left and the right jack assemblies to the spreader bar with the ball lockpins. 1) Install the torque adapter on the jack assemblies.
NOTE: Do not turn the torque wrench on the torque adapter
____ more than 30 pound-feet (40.7 newton-meters).
(e) Install the base assemblies: 1) Move the clamping arms of the base assembly to the open position. 2) With the handles pointed to the up position, install one assembly on each stabilizer actuator fitting.
3) Push the clamping arms together until two lugs are behind the actuator fitting vertical web and the other two lugs are below the sloped top web.
4) Turn the handles to the rear of the airplane to lock the assemblies to the actuator fittings.
(f)
Attach the free end of each jack assembly to the correct base assembly with the ball lockpins.
(g)
Attach the hanger assembly with clips to the bulkhead forward of the access door 312A.
(h)
Attach the beam to the spreader bar and hanger.
(i)
Adjust the hanger to make the beam level.
WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU TIGHTEN THE JAMNUT AFTER YOU MAKE THE BEAM
_______ LEVEL. THE BEAM CAN DISENGAGE AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
