Hold the slat while you remove the rod end bolt.

 ú  (a) Install the tool MIT65C38058-1 or C27071-1 (optional) with the
 ú steps that follow: 1) Remove lock wire and sealant between the locknut and the lock. 2) Install index pins into the aft holes on the actuator for the actuator door.
 3)  Install locating pins through the mounting holes for the forward actuator door and through the ears on the tool and use the star wheels to hold the pins to the actuator ears.

 4) Adjust slide until you can put the rig pin through the rod end. 5) Put the rig pin through the rod and the slots on the tool clevis. 6) Tighten thumbscrews and remove rig pin.

 (14) Replacement of the non-reed switch rod end (Figs. 401 and 402):
 NOTE: Refer to CMM for disassembly, assembly and test procedures

 for spare actuators.

 (a)  
If you are replacing a rod end with an improved rod end (SB 27A1211), remove the nameplate and the strap from the actuator housing and make a record of the dash number and the serial number shown on the nameplate.

 (b)  
Loosen the locknut, unthread the rod end from the inner piston and remove the rod end assembly.

 (c)  
Remove locknut and lock from the rod end and discard the lock.

 (d)  
Turn the sleeve 90 degrees and remove the sleeve-spring set and keep it together.


 NOTE: Do not remove the slide retainer-spring-slide set from
____
 the sleeve.

 (e)  
Discard the old rod end.

 (f)  
Install the new bushing into the new rod end.

 (g)  
Install the spring-sleeve set that you removed with the slide retainer-spring-slide set that you kept installed.

 (h)  
Put the sleeve inside the rod end until it is past the flats in the rod end, then turn the sleeve 90 degrees and make sure that the slide is in the inner diameter of the bushing.

 (i)  
Install the locknut on a new rod end assembly and install a new lock engaging the locknut approximately two threads.

 (j)  
Apply a light coat of grease BMS 3-24 (or equivalent), on the exposed threads of the rod end.
