 (a)  If it is necessary install below the forward auxiliary track clevis, three laminated shims (equal to 0.186 inch total thickness maximum), or five laminated shims (equal to 0.310 inch total thickness maximum) in the lower forward support fitting with taller forward flange. The permitted clearance between the slat upper trailing edge to fixed leading edge is 0.0020-0.0080 inch.
 NOTE: Measure the clearance at the highest point, within
____ 8.0 to 9.0 band that is centered about the auxiliary track centerline. Measure the clearance to a depth of
 0.4 to 0.6 inch with a feeler gage.
 (b)  Make sure the clearance between the slat upper trailing edge and the fixed leading edge is 0.0 to 0.06 inch at the slat ends.
 NOTE: Measure the clearance at 0.75 to 1.0 inch from the
____ inboard and outboard end of the slats.

 (c)  If you cannot get a clearance of 0.0 to 0.06 inch at the slat ends, adjust as follows: 1) Remove up to 0.04 inch maximum thickness from the laminated
 shims under the forward lower auxiliary track clevis to bring the slat ends to 0.0 to 0.06 inch.
 NOTE: If you removed the shims, it is possible that
____ the slats will not fall correctly into detent in the extend or retract cycle. If this occurs, you must reinstall the laminated shims as necessary to permit the detents to operate correctly.

 (40) Remove the leading edge slat actuator locks from the leading edge slat (AMM 27-81-00/201).

 WARNING:_______CAREFULLY INSTALL THE LEADING EDGE SLAT ACTUATOR LOCKS. THE LEADING EDGE SLATS CAN MOVE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (41)
 Install the leading edge slat actuator locks when you adjust the leading edge slats with the actuator connected (AMM 27-81-00/201).

 (a)  
Make sure the clearance between the slat upper trailing edge to fixed leading edge is 0.002 to 0.008 inch .


 NOTE: Measure the clearance at the highest point, within 8.0
____ to 9.0 band that is centered about the auxiliary track centerline. Measure the clearance to a depth of 0.4 to
 0.6 inch with a feeler gage.
 (b)  
If the clearance is not 0.002 to 0.008 inch, then do these steps to adjust the aft lower auxiliary track support: 1) Adjust the aft lower auxiliary track support until the

 clearance between the slat upper trailing edge to fixed leading edge is 0.002 to 0.008 inch.

 (c)  
Make sure the clearance between the slat upper trailing edge and the fixed leading edge is 0.0 to 0.0600 inch at the slat ends.


 NOTE: Measure the clearance at 0.75 to 1.0 inch from the
____ inboard and outboard end of the slats.
 1)  If you cannot get a clearance of 0.0 to 0.06 inch at the slat ends, adjust as follows: a) Turn the adjustment nut of each aft lower auxiliary
 track an additional maximum one (1) turn.

 (42) Do these checks on the detent arm and adjust the detent arms again if it is necessary (Fig. 506):
 (a)  Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit detent to extend the
 leading edge slats to the intermediate position.
 NOTE: Remove and install slat actuator locks and obey safety____
 warnings to prevent injury to persons or damage to
 equipment.
 (b)  Make sure that the detent arm roller touches the bottom of the
 cam plate.
 (c)  Make sure there is a distance of 0.00 to 0.03 inch between the
 cam plate and the forward surface of the detent arm roller.
 (d)  If it is necessary, adjust the detent arm torsion to a load of
 50 pounds (22.68 Kgms) +/-5 pounds (2.268 Kgms) at the
 auxiliary track locations with the steps that follow:
