 (n)  
AIRPLANES WITHOUT THE SLAT SENSOR WIRES INSTALLED ON THE REPLACEMENT SLAT; Attach the wires to the slat structure between the electrical plug bracket and the thermal anti-icing duct with the cushion clamps.

 (o)  
AIRPLANES WITH THE SLAT SENSOR WIRES INSTALLED ON THE REPLACEMENT SLAT; Do the steps that follow: 1) Attach the wires to the splice point near the front spar.


 CAUTION: MAKE SURE TO INSTALL THE HARNESS AND THE CLAMPS TO
_______ PREVENT CHAFING. FAILURE TO INSTALL THE HARNESS AND THE CLAMPS WILL CAUSE INTERFERENCE WITH TELESCOPING DUCT.
 2)  Attach the wires to the thermal anti-icing duct with the harness and clamps.
 (p)  
Make sure the slat actuator is in the retracted position.

 (q)  
Manually put the slat in the retracted position.


 1)  If the torsion rods are installed, loosen the torsion rod load adjustment bolts until you can fully retract the slat manually.

 (2)  Make sure there is clearance between the slat and the fixed leading edge (View D-D, Fig. 401).
 NOTE: Adjustment of the permitted clearance is achieved in
____
 AMM 27-81-00/501.

 (3)  
If there is not sufficient clearance, adjust as follows:

 (a)  
AIRPLANES WITH THE WASHERS BELOW THE UPSTOP ADJUSTMENT BOLT HEAD; Do the steps that follow: 1) Make sure that all upstop washers are installed. 2) Make sure the upstop adjustment bolts are tightened.

 (b)  
AIRPLANES WITH THE SHIMS BELOW THE UPSTOP ADJUSTMENT BOLT HEAD; Make sure that all the upstop shims and the longest upstops are installed at each stop location.


 NOTE:____There are different sizes to the upstops. Use the applicable upstops that will give you the correct adjustment.

 CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE TO SET THE LOWER AUXILIARY TRACK SUPPORTS TO THE HIGH SIDE. THIS WILL PREVENT THE SLAT UPPER TRAILING EDGE AND THE FIXED LEADING EDGE FROM DAMAGE DURING THE RETRACTION OF THE SLATS.
 (c) (d)  Adjust the forward lower auxiliary track support (initial adjustment). 1) Loosen the nut. 2) Install the new laminated washer below the forward auxiliary track clevis. 3) Tighten the nut to 160-240 pound-inches.Adjust the aft lower auxiliary track support (initial adjustment). 1) Loosen the bolt upper aft auxiliary track support. 2) Loosen the jamnut. 3) Loosen the lower aft support lock bolt and nut until the tapered lock is free (approximately one turn). 4) Extend the aft auxiliary track clevis with the adjustable nut. a) Make sure there is a clearance between the slat trailing edge to the fixed leading edge in the retracted position (View D-D, Fig. 401).
 NOTE:____ Adjustment of the permitted clearance is achieved in AMM 27-81-00/501.
 5)  Tighten the jamnut and nut on the bolt with your fingers.
 (4)  S 864-043Manually move the slat to the fully extended position.
 (5)  S 864-044Pressurize hydraulic system B (Ref 27-81-00/201).
 (6)  S 864-045Put the flap control lever to the 5-unit detent to extend the slat actuator to the intermediate position.
 (7)  S 864-046Release pressure from hydraulic system B (Ref 27-81-00/201).
 (8)  S 024-047Remove the slat actuator door, if it is necessary.
 (9)  S 864-049Manually move the slat up almost to the intermediate position and hold the slat at this position.
