 (3)  
The sign convention for the AOA vane angles specified in this test is the same for the left and the right AOA sensor vanes. On the calibrator tool, the numbers below the zero point of the main scale are positive degrees (= positive angle of attack). The numbers above the zero point of the main scale are negative degrees.

 (4)  
Each autoslat computer contains a circuit to reduce the angle of attack necessary for autoslat extension during the first one to two seconds after lift off. This compensates for the effect of windflow between the ground and the wing surfaces. This feature is tested by the "Flaps 1° Trip and Hysteresis and Ground Bias Washout" part of the test.

 (5)  
The wheel speed signals necessary during the test come from an oscillator in the antiskid control unit. You will use the WHEEL SELECT switch and the LW and SKID buttons on the antiskid control unit for these checks.

 (6)  
To put the system in air mode, you will use the AIR SENSING, GROUND SENSING, and NOSE SENSING test switches. These switches are located on the E-11 landing gear logic shelf in the radar bay.

Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 (a)  
P6 Panel
 1) PTU CONTROL VALVE
 2) STBY HYD PUMP ALT
 3) STBY HYD PUMP NORMAL


 (b)  
P18 Panel
 1) LEFT ALPHA VANE HEATER
 2) RIGHT ALPHA VANE HEATER


 (3)  
Move the No. 1 and 2 thrust levers to the aft stops.

Make sure that the TE flaps and the LE flaps and slats are fully retracted.

 THE AOA SENSORS CAN BE SUFFICIENTLY HOT TO BURN YOU.

 (5)  
Attach a test calibrator to each AOA sensor and set each sensor to 0 |1°.

Do a check of the autoslat system indicator lights:

 (a)  
Push the AUTOSLAT FAIL light (P5 panel) and make sure that it comes on.

 (b)  
Hold the LIGHTS switch (P2 panel) to TEST and make sure that these lights come on: 1) Left and right MASTER CAUTION (P7 pilots' lightshield). 2) FLT CONT (P7 pilots' lightshield). 3) AUTOSLAT FAIL (P5 panel).

 (c)  
Set the LIGHTS switch (P2 panel) to BRT.

 (d)  
Push the RESET button on each ASC. 1) Make sure that the PWR OK light on each ASC is on. 2) Make sure that all lights on each ASC except the PWR OK


 light are off. 3) Push the master caution RECALL button on the pilots' lightshield. 4) Make sure that the AUTOSLAT FAIL light is off.

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE TE FLAPS
_______ AND THE LE FLAPS AND SLATS DURING THE TEST. FAST MOVEMENT OF THE FLAPS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
