 1.  General_______
 A.  There are two tasks in this procedure. There is a task for the adjustment and a task for the functional test of the ground spoiler actuator.

Prepare for the Ground Spoiler Adjustment


 S 865-002
 (1)  
Supply the electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).

 S 865-003

 (2)
Supply the systems A and B hydraulic power (Ref 27-62-00/201).

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THE SPEED BRAKE ARMED LIGHT IS ON WHEN YOU LIFT THE
_______ SPEED BRAKES WITH THE SPEED BRAKE LEVER. THE SPEED BRAKE ACTUATOR CAN AUTOMATICALLY RETRACT THE SPOILERS. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 (3)  
Put the speed brake lever in the UP position to lift all of the spoilers.

Put the flap control lever in the UP detent to fully retract the flaps.

Put the speed brake lever in the DOWN position to lower all of the spoilers.

Put the SPOILER A and B switches in the OFF position.

Examine the ground spoiler actuators for leakage of the hydraulic fluid.

Adjust the Ground Spoiler Actuator

 (1)  
Measure the clearance between the spoiler and the flap near the middle of the spoiler panel (Fig. 501):

 (a)  
Make sure the clearance is 0.03 +0.10/-0.00-inch.


 S 825-010
 (2)  
Adjust the spoiler if the clearance is not in the tolerance:

 (a)  
Make a record of the clearance between the spoiler and the flap.


 WARNING: DO NOT PUT A PART OF YOUR BODY BETWEEN THE SPOILER AND THE
_______ WING UNLESS YOU REMOVE THE HYDRAULIC POWER. THE SPOILERS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 (b)  
Lift the spoiler or extend the flaps to get access to the spoiler actuator: 1) Put the speed brake lever in the UP position to lift the

 spoilers. 2) Put the flap control lever in the 40-unit detent to extend the flaps. 3) Open the trailing edge access panel to get access to the spoiler actuator if you extended the flaps. 4) Release the system B hydraulic pressure (Ref 27-62-00/201).

 (c)  
Loosen the checknut on the piston rod end and disengage the locking key.


 CAUTION: DO NOT TURN THE PISTON ROD IF THE ACTUATOR IS PRESSURIZED.
