 (5)  
The NO button is pushed to answer a menu option. If the NO button is held down, options will be shown in sequence at approximately 4 options per second until the button is released or until the last item is displayed; at this time the display will show END OF LIST.

 (6)  
If the YES or NO button is pushed when it is not appropriate (such as when stepping through a list), the display will show BUTTON INACTIVE.

 B.  
Prepare to run the BITE test.

 (1)  
Make sure the systems needed for the autoslat system are powered up and online before you do the BITE test.

 (2)  
Turn on the IRUs to supply data for the flap system input data.

 C.  
To enter BITE, push the ON/OFF button. A BITE entry test will automatically be performed by the SMC.

 (1)  
If the entry test fails, the display will show TEST FAIL momentarily, followed by nn FAULTS, where nn is the number of faults detected during the entry test. Then the display will show the first fault. Other faults (if they exist) will be shown as the down button is pushed repeatedly.

 (2)  
If the entry test passes, the display will show SYS OK. Push the menu button to access the options on the main menu. These are the main menu options:

 (a)  
PRESENT FAULTS?

 1)  PRESENT FAULTS provides the continuously updated (real time) status of interface signals.

 (b)  
SELF TEST?

 1)  The SELF TEST option runs a test of the SMC LRU itself. During the test, the display shows TEST IN PROGRESS, followed by either SMC LRU OK or SMC LRU FAIL. For a failed test, after SMC LRU FAIL shows momentarily, nn FAULTS shows, then DISP FAULTS? shows. If you answer yes to DISP FAULTS?, the display shows a list of faults internal to the SMC.

 (c)  
FAULT HISTORY? 1) FAULT HISTORY shows any faults detected by the SMC during the previous flight leg.


 2)  For the SMC, a flight leg begins when the airplane lifts off. The flight leg ends when the airplane speed becomes less than 60 knots during the landing rollout.
 3)  The SMC does not store in FAULT HISTORY those faults which occur between flight legs.
 (d)  GROUND TESTS?
 1)  GROUND TESTS allows testing and trouble shooting of system inputs on the ground. System inputs are listed under one of three menu options, DISCRETE INPUTS?, ARINC TESTS?, and SENSOR TESTS?. The input parameters shown on the display are continuously updated.

SYSTEM CONFIG?

 1)  The SYSTEM CONFIG option gives information on the airplane model and airplane configuration for which the SMC is currently programmed.

 (f)
CLR AND RETEST?


 1)  The CLR and RETEST option allows the operator to clear any two-flight transition faults in the SMC RAM.
 3.  Corrective Action_________________
 A.  Refer to 27-32-00/101 for the Stall Management Computer Fault Index. This index is an alphabetical listing of all faults which may be shown under TEST FAIL of the BITE entry test or under FAULT HISTORY. With each fault is a corrective action.
