 Do these checks with the flaps retracted:

 (a)  
Make sure the distance between the trailing edge of the flap panel and the leading edge is as specified (Fig. 504).

 (b)  
Make sure the metal-to-metal distance between ends of the inboard and the outboard flap panels is as follows: 1) 0.06 to 0.15 inch for all but the aft 5 inches of the flap

 panel. 2) 0.06 to 0.25 inch at the aft 5 inches of the flap panel.

 (c)  
If the distances are not correct, do a check of the wing and the flap panel for damage or warpage.


 NOTE: This check is to make sure that the flap and the wing
____ align correctly. There is no adjustment that you can do.

 (2)  Move the flap control lever to the 10-unit detent to fully extend the leading edge slats.

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU RELEASE THE PRESSURE FROM THE HYDRAULIC
_______ SYSTEM WHEN YOU DO THE ADJUSTMENT OF THE LEADING EDGE SLATS. WITH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM PRESSURIZE, THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND SLATS CAN MOVE. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (3)  Release the pressure from hydraulic system B (AMM 27-81-00/201).

Install the leading edge slat actuator locks when you adjust the leading edge slats with the actuator connected (AMM 27-81-00/201).

AIRPLANES WITH THE WASHERS BELOW THE UPSTOP ADJUSTMENT BOLT HEAD; Do the steps that follow:

 (a)  
Make sure all the upstop washers are installed.

 (b)  
Make sure the upstop adjustment bolts are tightened.

 (6)  AIRPLANES WITH THE SHIMS BELOW THE UPSTOP ADJUSTMENT BOLT HEAD; Make sure all the upstop shims and the longest upstops are installed at each stop location (Fig. 505).
 NOTE:____There are different sizes to the upstops. Use the applicable upstops that will give you the correct adjustment.
