_______ REVERSERS ARE CLOSED OR REMOVED. FAILURE TO CLOSE OR REMOVE THE INBOARD FAN DUCT COWL AND THE THRUST REVERSERS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ALTERNATE FLAP DRIVE UNIT IS LIMITED TO
_______ 4 MINUTES OPERATION AND 25 MINUTES OFF. FAILURE TO DO THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DRIVE UNIT.
 (e)
Set the alternate flap control switch to the DOWN position momentarily then release to off.

 (f)
Set the alternate flap arm switch to the OFF position.

 1)  Make sure that the leading edge flaps and slats fully retract.

 (g)
Do steps (d) and (e) again to operate the leading edge flaps and slats a minimum of two full cycles to bleed air from the system.

 (h)
Complete the operation with the alternate flap arm switch in the OFF position to put the leading edge devices in the retracted position.

 (i)
Set the Position System B Flight Control switch to the ON position.

 (j)
Set the Position System A Flight Control switch to the ON position.

 (k)
Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit detent to extend the leading edge flaps.

 (l)
Examine the hydraulic fittings on the actuator for leakage.

 (m)
Do this task to release the pressure from hydraulic system B: "Leading Edge Flaps and Slats Hydraulic Systems A, B and Standby Depressurization" (Ref 27-81-00/201).

 (n)
Put the alternate flap arm switch in the ARM position.

 (o)
Make sure that the standby hydraulic system low pressure light is off.

 (p)
Monitor the leading edge flaps and slats for 60 seconds.

 (q)  Make sure that the flaps and slats do not move.
NOTE: The leading edge flaps can slowly extend because of
____
 gravity.

After 1 minute with no hydraulic pressure, the distance between the lower surfaces of the flap trailing edge and the adjacent wing must not be more than 2 (for a new or over-hauled actuator) or 4 (for an in-service actuator) inches.
 (r)
Set the alternate flap arm switch in the OFF position.
