Install the Leading Edge Flap Proximity Sensor

 (1)  
Install the flap proximity sensor to the bracket.

Find the same color wires and make a splice.

Attach the wires together to make a bundle.

Make sure the routing of the wires through the clamps is correct.

Loosely install the bracket.

Adjust the clearance between the flap proximity sensor and the adjacent actuation bar:

 (a)  
Pressurize hydraulic system B (Ref 27-81-00/201).

 (b)  
Operate the flaps a minimum of two full cycles to permit the top flap nose rod to be at the center on the self-aligned bearing (Fig. 402).

 (c)  
Release pressure from hydraulic system B (Ref 27-81-00/201).

 (d)  Keep the clearance between the flap extend sensor and the actuation bar to 0.16 |0.01 inch.
 NOTE: Do not touch the top flap nose.

 (e)  Keep the clearance between the flap retract sensor and the actuation bar to 0.08 |0.02 inch (Fig. 402). 1) If it is necessary, do these steps to get the necessary
 clearance:
 a) Apply putty to the flap retract sensor.
 b) Pressurize hydraulic system B (Ref 27-81-00/201).
 c) Slowly retract the flaps.
 d) Extend the flaps again.
 e) Release pressure from hydraulic system B

 (Ref 27-81-00/201). f) Measure the thickness of the remaining putty on the flap retract sensor to do a check of the clearance.

Do a test of the proximity sensor (Ref 27-88-11/501).

Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

 WARNING:_______CAREFULLY REMOVE THE LEADING EDGE FLAP ACTUATOR LOCKS. THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THE LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
Remove the leading edge flap actuator locks from the actuators of the leading edge flaps (Ref 27-81-00/201).

 (2)  
Pressurize hydraulic system B (Ref 27-81-00/201).

Put the flap control lever to the FLAP UP detent to retract the flaps.

 (4)  
Release pressure from hydraulic system B (Ref 27-81-00/201).

Move the flap control lever to the FLAP UP detent position.
