(2) Put the flap control lever to the 10-unit detent to fully extend the slats.
S 484-010
WARNING: CAREFULLY INSTALL THE LEADING EDGE SLAT ACTUATOR LOCKOUT SET TO
_______ PREVENT ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE LEADING EDGE SLATS. THE LEADING EDGE SLATS CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(3)
Install the leading edge slat actuator lockout set on the actuators of the leading edge slats (Ref 27-81-00/201).
S 014-011
(4)
Remove the access panels on the lower surface of the fixed wing leading edge.
S 024-012
(5)
Remove the slat actuator door.
S 034-013
(6)
Remove the seal and the access plate at the rod end of the leading edge slat actuator.
S 034-014
(7)
Remove the slat cove panels.
S 864-015
(8)
Put the flap control lever to the 5-unit detent.
S 864-022
(9)
When the leading edge is retracted half between the fully extended and the intermediate positions, release pressure from hydraulic system B (Ref 27-81-00/201).
NOTE: Retraction of the slat removes the load from the bolt of the
____
slat actuator rod end.
S 024-036
(10)
Remove the leading edge slat:
(a)
Remove the fasteners that hold the electrical connector bracket to the slat (Ref 27-81-41/401).
(b)
Disconnect the electrical connector.

WARNING:_______ MAKE SURE YOU HOLD THE LEADING EDGE SLAT IN ITS POSITION.
THE LEADING EDGE SLAT CAN FALL TO THE FULL EXTEND
POSITION. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO
EQUIPMENT.
(c)
Hold the slat in position and remove the rod end bolt that joins the slat to the slat actuator.
(d)
Let the slat move down as far as the slat main track downstops will permit.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE TO FULLY REMOVE THE ELECTRICAL WIRES FROM THE
_______ LEADING EDGE SLAT. DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL WIRES CAN OCCUR DURING THE SLAT REMOVAL IF THE ELECTRICAL WIRES ARE NOT FULLY REMOVED.
(e)
AIRPLANES WITHOUT THE SLAT SENSOR WIRES INSTALLED ON THE REPLACEMENT SLAT; Do these steps: 1) Release the cushion clamps that attach the electrical wires
to the structure between the electrical plug bracket and the thermal anti-icing duct on the slat. 2) Remove the wires from the slat.
(f)
AIRPLANES WITH THE SLAT SENSOR WIRES INSTALLED ON THE REPLACEMENT SLAT; Do these steps: 1) Remove the wires from the fixed leading edge at the splice
point near the front spar. 2) Release the harness and clamps that attach the electrical wires to the thermal anti-icing duct.
(g)
Pressurize hydraulic system B (Ref 27-81-00/201).
(h)
Make sure the slat actuator retract to the intermediate position.
(i)
Put the flap control lever to the FLAP UP detent to retract the slat actuator.
(j)
Release pressure from hydraulic system B (Ref 27-81-00/201).
(k)
Disconnect the thermal anti-icing telescoping duct from the leading edge slat (Ref 30-11-31/401).
(l)
Manually put the slat at a position to align the downstops on the main slat tracks with the holes in the track ribs.
(m)
Remove the downstop from each slat track.
NOTE: Remove the nut first by holding the bolthead when the
____ nut is untightened. This action will prevent damage to the stop locator. The stop locator will turn with the bolt if the bolthead is untighted first.
