If the torsion rods are not installed, install the torsion rods (Fig. 506):
 (a)  Install the torsion rod through the auxiliary track support
 structure.
 (b)  Install the washers to the detent arm side.
 (c)  Align the index marks between the torsion rod and the detent
 arm.
 (d)  Adjust the torsion rod axially.
 1) BEJ B-2531 THRU B-2532;
Add or remove the washers on the torsion rod until the
 detent arm centerline is 1.25 +/- 0.03 inch or 31.75 +/-
0.76 mm (dimension X) from the auxiliary track centerline
 (View H-H, Fig. 505).
NOTE: The torsion rod must turn freely after the washer____
 adjustment.

ON AIRPLANES WITH SHORTER TORSION ROD END LENGTHS (65C25690
 -3, -4) AND SLOTTED TRUNNION (65C25699-3);
add or remove the washers on the torsion rod until the
 detent arm centerline is 1.16 +/- 0.03 inch or 29.46 +/-
0.76 mm from the auxiliary track centerline, as initial
measurement before slat installation. Do the final
adjustment of the detent arm after slat installation and
make sure the detent arm is centered on the centerline of
the detent arm roller (View H-H,Fig. 505).
NOTE: The torsion rod must turn freely after the washer____
 adjustment.

 3)  Align the index marks again if it is necessary.
 (e)  Align the index marks to add the right plate assembly, washers,
and torque shaft arm to the torsion rod end opposite of the
 detent arm.
 (f)  Remove or add the washers to make sure that the right plate
 assembly is correctly installed.
NOTE:____ The torsion rod must turn freely after the washer
 adjustment.
 (g)  Tighten the nuts to 50-70 pound-inches.
 (h)  Connect the left and right plate assemblies with a trunnion,
 washer, and cotter pin.
 (i)  Move the plate assemblies up.
 (j)  Set the bushing in the position to hold the torsion rod as
 shown in Detail B-B.
 (k)  Install the plate assemblies to the structure with two plates,
 four bolts and nuts.
 (l)  Tighten the nuts to 20-25 pound inches.
 (m)  Install the torsion rod bolts through the trunnion and the
