 WARNING:_______ CAREFULLY INSTALL THE LEADING EDGE FLAP ACTUATOR LOCKS.  THE
 LEADING EDGE FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE
 LOCKS CORRECTLY.  THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO

 EQUIPMENT.
 (4)  
Install the leading edge flap actuator locks on all the flaps but the flap you will adjust (AMM 27-81-00/201).

 (5)  
On the outboard flap, make sure the flap nose touches the pads on the flap panel (Fig. 503).

 (a)  
Adjust if it is necessary: 1) Make sure that the center-to-center lengths of the flap


 nose links are as shown.
 2) Disconnect the links from the cranks.
 3) Adjust as it is necessary.
 4) Tighten the adjustment nuts.
 5) Install the lockwire.
 6) Connect the links to the cranks.
 7) Tighten the nuts to 5-10 pound-inches.
 8) Install the cotter pins.
 9) Disconnect the flap nose rods from the flap nose.
 10) Adjust the length to get the flap nose to firmly touch the
 pad. 11) Tighten the adjustment nuts. 12) Install the lockwire. 13) Connect the flap nose rods to the flap nose. 14) Tighten the nuts to 5-10 pound-inches. 15) Install the cotter pins.

 (6)  Disconnect the actuator from the flap panel.

Make sure there is clearance between the flap nose, structure, actuator and equipment.

On the inboard flap, make sure there is clearance between the flap nose and the fuel boost pump, the upstop and the inner surface of the flap panel.


 NOTE: To do a check for clearances at the inboard flap nose, apply
____ modeling clay. Do a check of the impressions to find the clearances.
 (a)  Adjust the adjustable link if it is necessary:
 1)  Make the adjustable link longer to increase the clearance between the flap nose and the fuel boost pump.
 NOTE: With the flap nose link disconnected and the flap
____ nose folded back, the clearance between the flap nose and the crank must be 0.01 |0.01 inch.
 a) Make sure the flap nose touches the flap on extension. b) Make sure there is a clearance between the flap nose and the fuel boost pump on retraction. c) Adjust the adjustable link again if there is not
 sufficient clearance. d) Extend the flap. e) Temporarily connect the actuator to the flap. f) Make sure that the flap nose touches the flap. g) Tighten the adjustment nuts. h) Install a lockwire on the adjustment nut. i) Connect the flap nose link and adjustable link to the
 crank. j) Tighten the nuts to 5-10 pound-inches.

 k)  Install the cotter pin.
 l)  Remove the bolt.
 m)  Hold the actuator.

 Do a check for clearance between the inboard end of the flap nose and the retainer fasteners on the seal support.

 (a)  
Make sure there is a 0.02 inch minimum clearance between the retainer fasteners and the flap nose.

 Retract the flap panel.

 Make sure that the seal depressor on the flap touches the full length of the bulb seal in the wing.

 Extend the flap.

 Make sure there is an opening of 0.08 inch minimum between the depressor and the structure.
