2) Tighten the nut to 5-10 pound-inches.
3) Install the cotter pin.
(q) At the inboard flap nose linkage of the inboard flap, do these steps if you install a new flap nose link: 1) Connect the flap nose link to the lug. 2) Tighten the nut to 30-40 pound-inches. 3) Install the cotter pin.

Manually extend the LE flap fully.

Turn the flap nose until it touches the pads on the flap panel. Hold the flap nose in this position.

Adjust the length of the flap nose rods to connect the cranks on the flap panels with the flap nose touches the flap pads.

Tighten the adjustment nuts.

Install a lockwire.

Connect the flap nose rods to the cranks.

Do a check of the clearances with the flap retracted manually:
(a)
On the inboard flap, do these steps: 1) Disconnect the flap nose rod from one of the outboard flap nose crank. 2) Do not connect the flap nose rod until you do a check of
the clearances at the inboard flap nose. 3) Hold the rod to prevent damage. 4) At the inboard flap nose, apply modeling clay to the flap
nose.

5) Do a check of the clearances at the boost pump, upstop and inner surface of the flap panel.
(b)
Manually retract the leading edge flap fully.
(c)
Do a check of the clearances at the inboard flap nose of the inboard flap. 1) Extend the leading edge flap. 2) Do a check of the modeling clay impressions to do a check
of the boost pump, upstop and the flap panel clearances. 3) If the clearances are not as specified, adjust the linkage. a) Disconnect the flap nose link and the adjustable link from the crank. b) Adjust the length of the adjustable link.
NOTE: If you increase the length of the adjustable
____ link, this will increase the clearance at the boost pump and upstop. If you decrease the length of the adjustable link, this will increase the clearance at the inner surface of the flap panel.
c) Make sure the clearance between the flap nose and the
crank is 0.01 |0.01 inch. d) Tighten the alignment nuts of the adjustable link. e) Install the lockwire. f) Adjust the flap nose link. g) Make sure the flap nose touches the pads on the flap
panel with the flap fully extended. h) Make sure the flap nose does not hit the fuel boost
pump with the flap fully retracted. i) Tighten the alignment nut of the flap nose link. j) Install the lockwire. k) Connect the flap nose link and the adjustable link to
the crank. l) Tighten the nuts to 5-10 pound-inches. m) Install the cotter pins.

4) Do a check for clearance between the inboard end of the flap nose and the retainer fasteners on the seal support. a) Make sure there is a 0.02 inch minimum clearance
