(1)
Do a test of the hydraulic operation of the leading edge flap and slat:
(a)
Make sure the flap control lever is at the FLAP UP detent.
1) Make sure that trailing edge flaps and the leading edge flaps and slats are retracted.
(b)
At the specified positions of the trailing edge flaps, do these checks on the positions of the leading edge flaps and slats.
NOTE: Use the indicators to find the position of the trailing
____ edge flaps. If you move the flap control lever, it will extend or retract the trailing edge flaps.
1) The trailing edge flaps are extended to the 1-unit position. a) Make sure the leading edge flaps fully extend. b) Make sure the leading edge slats 1 thru 6 are in the
EXT (intermediate) position.
2) The trailing edge flaps are extended through the 2 and 5-unit positions. a) Make sure the leading edge flaps and slats do not move.
3) The trailing edge flaps are extended between the 5 and 10-unit positions. a) Make sure that the leading edge slats 1 thru 6 extend
to the FULL EXT position.
4) The trailing edge flaps are extended through the 15, 25, 30 and 40-unit positions. a) Make sure that the leading flaps and slats stay in the
FULL EXT position.
5) The trailing edge flaps are retracted through the 30, 25, 15, and 10-unit positions. a) Make sure that the leading edge flaps and slats stay in
the FULL EXT position.
6) The trailing edge flaps are retracted between the 10 and 5-unit positions. a) Make sure that the leading edge slats 1 thru 6 retract
to the EXT position.
7) The trailing edge flaps are retracted through the 2 and 1-unit positions. a) Make sure that the leading edge flaps and slats do not
move.
8) The trailing edge flaps are retracted to the FLAP UP position. a) Make sure that the leading edge flaps and slats retract
fully.

(2) Do a test of the electrical operation of the leading edge flap and slat:
NOTE: Use the indicators to find the position of the trailing edge
____
flaps.
(a)
Make sure the flap control lever is in the FLAP UP detent.
(b)
Make sure the leading edge flaps and slats and the trailing edge flaps are in the retracted position.
(c)
Set the alternate flap arm switch to ARM.
NOTE: The alternate flaps arm switch at the ARM position will
____ enegize the standby hydraulic pump motor.
(d)
Move the flap control lever to the 10-unit detent.
(e)
Make sure the trailing edge flaps do not move.
NOTE: The flap control lever is moved to the flap detent that
____ is the same as the position of the trailing edge flaps. This is to prevent sudden flap movement when you pressurize the hydraulic system.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS OR EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE
_______ LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND SLATS. THE LEADING EDGE CONTROL SURFACES WILL EXTEND. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE INBOARD AND OUTBOARD FAN DUCT COWLS AND
_______ THE THRUST REVERSERS ARE CLOSED OR REMOVED BEFORE YOU EXTEND THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND SLATS. THERE IS NOT SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE FOR THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND SLATS TO EXTEND IF THE INBOARD AND OUTBOARD FAN DUCT COWLS AND THE THRUST REVERSERS ARE IN THE OPEN (MAINTENANCE) POSITION. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
