 1) Move the flap control lever to the FLAPS UP position to
 retract the slats.
 2) Install a dummy weight of 50 pounds (22.68 kgms) +/- 5
 pounds (2.268 kgms) on the detent arm cam plate as shown in
 Fig. 506, View C-C.
 NOTE: The initial torsion rod load adjustment on each slat____
 must be in the limit of 3.0 pounds of each other.
 You can increase the load to a limit of 50 pounds
 (22.68 kgms) +/- 5 pounds (2.268 kgms).
 3) With the dummy weight installed, turn the torsion rod bolt
 (at the other end of the torsion rod opposite to the detent
 arm/torsion rod connection) until you get a clearance of
 0.1 inch (2.54 mm) between the stop and the lower edge
 inside the slot of the detent arm.
 4) Remove the dummy weight from the detent arm cam plate after
 you have adjusted the load.
 5) Install a lockwire on the torsion rod screw.

 Do a check of the clearance between the slat upper trailing edge to the fixed leading edge.

 Make sure the clearance is in the specified limit as shown on Table II (View C-C, Fig. 505) with the steps that follow:

 (a)  
Remove the leading edge slat actuator locks from the leading edge slat (AMM 27-81-00/201).

 (b)  
Move the flap control lever to the 10-unit position to fully extend the leading edge slats.

 PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

 (c)  
Install the leading edge slat actuator locks when you adjust the leading edge slats with the actuator connected (AMM 27-81-00/201).

 (d)  
Measure the clearance (0.10 inch minimum) between the auxiliary arm roller bearings and the forward end of the auxiliary track (View B-B, Detail "G", Fig. 505): 1) If visual check is not possible, do the steps that follow:


 WARNING:_______ CAREFULLY INSTALL THE LEADING EDGE SLAT ACTUATOR LOCKS.
 THE LEADING EDGE SLATS CAN MOVE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT
 INSTALL THE LOCKS CORRECTLY.  THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO

 a)  Retract the slat to a position that permits you to put molding clay on the end of the auxiliary track.
 b)  Apply molding clay to the end of the auxiliary track and make sure that clay does not stay on the roller bearing.
 c)  Extend slat fully and then retract slat to a position that permits you to take measurement of the clay thickness.
 d)  Measure the clay thickness on the marks made by the roller bearing and make sure you get 0.10 inch minimum clearance.
 e)  If it is necessary, adjust the downstops with steps given below to get 0.10 inch minimum clearance between the auxiliary track and the roller bearing.
 NOTE: The 0.10 inch clearance adjustment is done with
____ three way adjustable downstops only. If the airplane has round downstops you need to replace them (SB 57-1175).

 2)  If you find that the required 0.10 inch minimum clearance is not there or can not be adjusted, do one of these tasks: a) If the airplane has round downstops in the slat
 installations, inspect the auxiliary tracks and its support fittings and replace the round downstops with the three way adjustable downstops (SB 57-1175) and adjust the 0.10 inch minimum clearance with the new downstops following the steps given below.
 b)  If the airplane has the three way adjustable downstops in the slat installations, inspect the auxiliary tracks and its support fitting for damage (SB 57-1175) and adjust the 0.10 inch minimum clearance with the downstops following the steps given below.
 (e) If the clearances are not in the specified limit, then do these steps: 1) Move the slat up until the down-stop bolt hole aligns with the hole in the support rib.
