THE LEADING EDGE FLAP AND SLAT LOCKS. THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS
AND SLATS CAN MOVE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE LOCKS
CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO
EQUIPMENT.

Install the leading edge slat locks on the adjacent leading edge slats (Ref 27-81-00/201).

Remove the slat actuator door from the actuator. S 014-040

Remove the seal and access panel from the slat at the actuator rod end.

Move the flap control lever to the 5-unit detent.

(8) Release the pressure from hydraulic system B when the leading edge slat is half between the fully extended and the intermediate positions (Ref 27-81-00/201).
NOTE: Retraction of the slat removes the load from the actuator rod

_______ THE LEADING EDGE SLAT CAN FALL TO THE FULL EXTEND POSITION. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Hold the slat in position and remove the rod end attach bolt that connects the slat to the slat structure.
(a)
Remove the nut and washers from the bolt.
(b)
Move the bolt out until the bolt head touches the slat structure.
(c)
Move the bushing out until the bushing contacts the bolt head flange.
(d)
Remove the bolt and bushing.

Let the slat move to the full extend position.

Pressurize hydraulic system B (Ref 27-81-00/201).

Monitor the slat actuator retract to the intermediate extend position.

Remove the Leading Edge Slat Actuator

(1)
Remove the actuator:
(a)
Remove the bolts from the inboard rib at the actuator.
(b)
Remove the rib lower cord.
(c)
Remove the clamps that attach the hydraulic lines to the wing structure.
(d)
Tag all the hydraulic lines and ports for correct replacement.
(e)
Disconnect the hydraulic lines from the swivel joints.
(f)
Install the plugs in the hydraulic lines.
(g)
Seal all the ports with the caps.
(h)
Disconnect the actuator from the support fitting in the wing.
(i)
Remove the actuator.
(j)
Disconnect the hydraulic lines from the actuator.
