Measure the dimensions of these parts.

Compare the part dimensions to the limit dimensions.

If the part dimension is out of tolerance, replace the part.

Install all the parts removed to do the check.

 LEADING EDGE SLAT ACTUATOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  There are two tasks in this procedure. There is one task for the removal and one task for the installation of the slat actuator of the leading edge. The procedure contains these tasks:
 (1)  
The removal of the actuator from the slat

 (2)  
The removal of the actuator

 (3)  
The installation of the actuator

 (4)  
The installation of the actuator to the slat.

 B.  
The slat actuator contains blocked valves which hydraulically lock the actuator piston in position when hydraulic pressure is removed. The actuator must be retracted to remove it from the wing.


 ú (1) Do a visual check on the 0.10 inch clearance required between the ú auxiliary track and the roller bearing (AMM 27-81-00/501).
 (a)  If visual check is not possible, do the steps that follow: 1) Retract the slat to a position that permits you to put molding clay on the end of the auxiliary track. 2) Apply molding clay to the end of the auxiliary track and make sure that clay does not stay on the roller bearing. 3) Extend slat fully and then retract slat to a position that permits you to take measurement of the clay thickness. 4) Measure the clay thickness on the marks made by the roller
 bearing and make sure you get 0.10 inch minimum clearance. ú 5) If it is necessary, adjust the downstops with steps given ú below to get 0.1 inch minimum clearance between the ú auxiliary track and the roller bearing. ú         ú
