WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE TRAILING
_______ EDGE FLAPS, THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND SLATS AND THE DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Move the flap control lever to the flaps position 40 (flaps down) detent to extend the flaps.

Remove the Center Fairing

Remove the access panel from the center fairing to get access to the center fairing hinge fitting (Fig. 401).

At the outboard track center fairing, disconnect the landing light:
NOTE: It is necessary to disconnect the landing light for the
____ removal of the center fairing at the outboard track.
(a)
Remove the aft fairing from the center fairing.
(b)
Disconnect the electrical connector from the landing light (Fig. 402).
(c)
Remove the landing light cam track to disengage the cam follower.

(d) Disconnect the rod end on the push/pull cable to the cam arm and the cam follower.

Remove the center fairing (Fig. 401):
(a)
Remove the fasteners and bushings that attach the center fairing hinge fitting to the flap track fairing support (Fig. 401).
NOTE: Remove the bushings from the side of the clevis with the

larger hole.
(b)
Move the center fairing aft to release the fairing tracks from the track rollers.
(c)
If you will install a different center fairing, remove the cam track from the fairing.
NOTE:____Keep all shims from the center fairing. You will use these shims to install the cam track on the new center fairing. You must install the shims in the same positions.
